Position Summary: In support of the overall mission of the TCNJ Career Center and reporting to the Director, the Associate Director will strategically design, expand, and manage outreach to employers, maintain and complement external industry partnerships, and bring awareness of the range of opportunities to students and alumni of The College of New Jersey. The Associate Director will oversee major employer engagement events and operational logistics related to employer engagement events. The Associate Director will also actively support key career outcomes initiatives and communications initiatives, including the coordination and promotion of the First Destination Survey (FDS). The Associate Director will play a key leadership role in advancing employer and industry partnerships and in supporting the Director, advancing the strategic direction of the Career Center at The College of New Jersey. While the Director holds primary responsibility for the overall strategy and direction of the Career Center, this position is responsible for leading the implementation of employer-facing initiatives aligned with those priorities and ensuring strong support for student career development and outcomes. Areas of responsibilities include: ? Develop and execute strategic employer engagement plans to expand internship, job, and experiential learning opportunities for students and alumni. ? Build and maintain relationships with regional, national, and global employers across diverse industries. ? Oversee planning, execution, and assessment of large scale events such as career fairs, networking events and information sessions. ? Manage employer visibility partner programs including sponsorship, employer spotlights, and industry roundtables. ? Supervise assigned staff and student employees, providing direction, mentoring, and professional development support. ? Collaborate with campus stakeholders, including Deans and faculty, to align employer outreach with academic priorities. ? Represent the Career Center at professional conferences, campus-wide committees, and alumni engagement initiatives. ? Support and promote the First Destination Survey (FDS), including communication, outreach, and reporting of career outcomes. ? Coordinate internship surveys and reporting to support accreditation and continuous improvement. ? Partner with campus offices such as Corporate & Foundation Relations and Alumni Affairs to strengthen institutional relationships. Main Responsibilities: Employer Engagement: -Develop, implement, and manage an employer engagement strategy which results in the cultivation and management of relationships with a range of employers including major corporations, non-profits, and small companies to develop or expand internship and post-graduation employer opportunities for students across a range of academic majors and career communities. -Oversee employer visibility initiatives, including spotlights, social media features, the Visibility Partner program (or similar corporate sponsorships), and other recognition events. -Engage employers in a range of recruitment, career development, and advisory activities in collaboration with faculty and campus partners. Organizational Leadership and Support: -Manage the overall strategic direction of employer relations and manage employer engagement event operations, including establishing, monitoring, and evaluating relevant performance goals and managing and allocating recruitment and employer-event-oriented budgets, planning and materials. -Create and manage workflows to share employer, graduate school, and alumni insights with the Career Center team to increase awareness and applications to experiential, job, and continuing education opportunities. -Provide direct supervision and mentorship to staff as assigned by the Director. Events and Programming: - Plan, organize, and manage all career fairs, employer networking events, and employer information sessions (virtual and in-person), including the creation, development, execution, and assessment of events. - Strategically develop employer retention and re-engagement strategies for revenue-generating events, meetups, and the campus interview program. - Provide oversight and direction for event budgets, marketing, and promotional materials for campus recruiting events. - Analyze data collection and reporting for employer participants in career fairs, meetups, and on-campus/virtual interviews to assess hiring results and strategically inform future planning and initiatives. - Facilitate employer engagement with student organizations where relevant to support career development and awareness. - Manage event logistics, marketing, registration systems, and post-event evaluations to inform future strategy. - Maintain office records, systems, and databases, including Handshake and BWBRS Outcomes: - Support the creation, promotion, and distribution of the First Destination Survey for graduating classes in collaboration with the Director and relevant campus partners. - Support efforts to increase FDS response rates through employer visibility, alumni engagement, and communication campaigns. - Coordinate the creation and distribution of an Internship Survey for students and employers to report on internship experiences. - Analyze, create, and distribute outcomes reports to the campus and public communities and contribute insights to programming, strategic planning, and employer engagement initiatives. Career Counseling and Special Programs: - Provides individual and/or group-based career counseling through appointments and/or small and large career development programs or workshops that incorporate career development theory, industry trends and best practices on topics including (but not limited to) Resume Writing, Interview Skills, Handshake, Search Strategies and draw on the use of assessment tools such as Strong, MBTI, Focus2 and Strengthsfinder (if relevant) to increase students self-understanding in the internship/job search, graduate and professional school exploration, resume, interview and employment workshops for students. - Develop strategies to scale content from programs and workshops, which may include integrating into school curriculum for course needs and/or making recorded sessions available online. - Other tasks as assigned. Required Qualifications: Masters degree required or Bachelors degree with six years of experience in career development theory, career counseling or recruiting and at least 4 years of experience in higher education, student affairs, or a related field to career services or university relations. Ability to establish, maintain, and enhance effective and productive partnerships with external and internal key stakeholders including employers, alumni, faculty, and administrators. Demonstrated project and event management. Value towards excellent customer service and problem solving skills. Ability to work with a broad range of stakeholders, including external hiring managers and diverse students. Strong written and oral presentation skills. Ability to travel periodically to engage with external partners, alumni and students. Willingness and ability to work evenings and weekends if needed for special program requests. Effective supervisory ability and a proven track record in meeting goals dependent upon internal and external partnerships. Event planning and promotion experience. Excellent organizational and communications skills. Facilitate individual and group counseling related to career development. Training in MBTI, Strengthsfinder, Focus2 and/or Strong Interest Inventory. Advanced skills in Database Management (Handshake), Google Suite, MS Excel, PowerPoint or other presentation tools, and Word. Understanding and appreciation of growing role technology plays in delivery of career development and employer engagement. Preferred Qualifications: Full-time experience on a college/university staff is preferred or early talent/university recruitment experience.
