JOB SUMMARY The University of St. Thomas Athletic Department and its Men’s Hockey program are seeking a high-energy, dynamic, Director of Hockey Operations that can help elevate our men’s hockey program in all areas. Reporting to the Head Men’s Hockey Coach, the Director of Hockey Operations will oversee and supervise the day- to-day administrative operations of the University’s Men’s Hockey program. This position will coordinate all aspects of operational activities such as practice/game video, team travel, practice planning, recruiting, on-ice coaching, internal coordination with departments and alumni communication/events. The Director of Hockey Operations will also be responsible for developing and managing all program administrative support tasks. Position will manage all operations of the men’s hockey program in accordance with NCAA and University rules and regulations. This position will work collaboratively with Head Coach and staff in developing a competitive Division 1 program. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Hockey Operations and Supervision
Oversee and supervise the day-to-day administrative operations of the men’s hockey program. In addition, oversee and supervise all its major components to include, but not limited to video, team travel, practice planning, student athlete communication and alumni coordination.
Administrative Responsibilities
Manage the program’s operating and travel budgets. Create and maintain a yearly calendar. Serve as the liaison to the athletic administration, compliance administration, academics, university housing and dining administration, ARMS Software service.
Recruiting
Organize all aspects of the organization’s official and unofficial recruiting visits. Actively engage in recruiting process directly with potential student athletes and families. Maintain accurate demographic, academics and athletics information on top prospects and commits in the recruiting database.
Student-Athlete Skill Development, Technique & Mentorship
Assist in the instruction, assessment, and growth of men’s hockey student-athlete skill development. Assist in on-ice instruction, practice and game strategy, coordinate goalie specific drills.
Other Duties as Assigned
Assist and/or complete other duties that may be assigned by the VP and Director of Athletics, Men’s Hockey Sport Administrator or Head Coach.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree Experience working in college hockey An equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills have been acquired may be substituted. Preferred Qualifications Working knowledge of NCAA compliance rules and regulations
