DESCRIPTION : The Business Development Principal is responsible for developing new opportunities for growth in the Program, establishing new relationships with potential clients, and maintaining existing client relationships. This role involves seeking out new clients and demonstrating the ability to assist in maintaining existing clients as a technical expert. It also includes supporting commissioning projects by integrating project teams with clients to meet their needs and expectations. The role may hold responsibility for overall client relationships and involves industry and community engagement through memberships and outreach. The majority of the time will be devoted to developing and maintaining business relationships with clients.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Manage and maintain ongoing client relationships for the Cx Program in the assigned territory.
Conduct background research on target markets, projects, and potential clients to determine pursuit strategies.
Compose, edit, and produce technical proposals.
Develop fee estimates and labor budgets.
Participate in client meetings, marketing, and presentation planning as needed.
Develop and pursue new project opportunities in the assigned territory.
Interact with potential clients by describing services and coordinating proposals and contracts.
Provide feedback to the Program Director regarding business strategies in the territory.
Contribute to business development strategies to enhance the firm's image and develop technical information for pursuits.
Manage sales and input data into the IMED platform.
Represent the firm to clients and external groups, maintaining a professional image.
Maintain relationships with major clients and develop national accounts.
Attract potential customers through various communication channels, referrals, and promotion of SSR services.
Educate potential clients through presentations and workshops.
Coordinate with marketing for proposal development and review contracts for accuracy.
Negotiate contracts and ensure project details are communicated effectively to the team.
Process sales for commissioning contracts.
Engage with clients through entertainment and meetings.
Maintain ongoing communication and review project reports to ensure client satisfaction.
Search for and pursue desirable projects.
Assist in performance of Cx and CCx contracts through meetings and reports.
Attend trade shows and conventions to market SSR and build relationships.
Register the Cx Program on bid lists and track project registrations.
Coordinate professional development opportunities for industry professionals and clients.
Collaborate across SSR programs for cross-selling and integrated solutions.
Participate in professional organizations and industry training to stay current.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS : KNOWLEDGE
Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Construction contract language and project delivery hierarchy

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or related field
Fifteen years of relevant experience
CxA Certification, CEM Certification, and other applicable certifications preferred

Frequent computer use
Travel by car and plane for site visits and meetings
Ability to transport materials up to 30 pounds
WORK ENVIRONMENT :
Indoor office environment with occasional exposure to noise, fumes, or dust
Travel to construction sites, including high altitudes or confined spaces
Occasional overnight travel and site visits
