Role

Responsible for the achievement of short-term and long-term financial and operational objectives for the Company. Ensures Company is focused on business retention through profitable contract and franchise renewals. Ensures Company provides ongoing positive customer service and maintains positive relationships with existing customer base, including but not limited to local agencies, city councils, etc. Pursues new business development opportunities that will enable the Company to grow and enhance profitability. Abides by federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Understands and ensures compliance with safety & health, environmental, people (HR), financial, and other applicable regulations and company policies. Negotiates agreements with customers, vendors, landfill operators, and buyers of recycled material. Negotiates collective bargaining agreements. Represents Company in the business community and in regulatory matters to maintain good will and understanding of Company’s waste management practices and financial requirements. Provides leadership to employees and promotes positive employee morale. Obtains and administers operating agreements, operating permits, and adequate rates. Creates, in conjunction with Regional Manager, annual business plan. Regularly reviews with full understanding the company’s financial statements. Controls operating costs, collections, and accounting, to ensure maximum return to the Company within a reasonable rate structure. Streamlines business processes. Uses personnel and equipment resources appropriately. Develops and utilizes key metrics to analyze and improve the company’s operations and finances. Self-identifies and proactively corrects operational, environmental, employment and labor issues when they arise. Creates ownership of operational, environmental, financial and employment challenges to create excellence in these areas. Aligns employee performance and contributions with company goals and objectives. Works closely with and supports company management and other departments on company initiatives. Driving a Company vehicle will be required from time to time. Other duties as assigned.

Role

Plans, directs, and evaluates all aspects of a composting, garbage, or debris collection subsidiary to ensure safe, efficient, and profitable service to customers. This position manages a Recology Company with up to approximately 75 employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Qualifications

5 years related management experience in waste, transportation or related field. Bachelor's degree preferred. Possession of a high school diploma or GED required. Technical and professional principles, practices, laws, applications and programs in position related area, including an understanding of political processes and public policy in the region. Broad knowledge of the waste, transportation industry or related field. Current developments and trends in areas of expertise. Computer programs, including Microsoft Office suite of applications and using data to inform and set priorities and identify challenges/opportunities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including government officials and business leaders. Strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to translate business objectives into actionable plans. Exceptional stakeholder management abilities, with a demonstrated ability to build rapport, trust, and credibility with diverse stakeholder groups. Ability to influence others, be empathetic, and move toward a common vision or goal. Principles of personnel training, supervision and evaluation. Supervisory techniques, resource allocation, planning and budgeting. Valid Driver’s License.
