Director of Sanitation and Sanitary Design

Director of Sanitation and Sanitary Design The Director of Sanitation provides strategic oversight, support, and governance for all aspects of sanitation and sanitary design across all Land OLakes facilities. This role leads the development and implementation of a comprehensive sanitation strategy, collaborating with manufacturing locations to establish and maintain sanitary design standards, SOPs, master sanitation schedules, and reviews and approves equipment design and modifications from a sanitary standpoint. The Director ensures quality and food safety success, preventing sanitation and design-related failures through leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration. This position champions accountability, empowers the sanitation team, and fosters a culture of sanitation excellence within the company. The role can be based in Arden Hills, MN (preferred) or be virtual, with 50-70% travel required. Job Duties : Develop and implement sanitation and sanitary design standards, including guidelines for cleaning, disinfection, and KPI tracking. Provide technical support and expertise in sanitation and sanitary design across teams; oversee pest control programs. Assess new equipment and processes for compliance with sanitary design principles and regulations. Investigate sanitation non-conformities, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions. Train staff on cleaning practices and stay updated on sanitation technologies, regulations, and industry trends; represent Land OLakes in industry forums. Lead and mentor sanitation managers, fostering a culture of food safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. Required Experience : Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or related field. 20 years of experience in food manufacturing, preferably dairy. Expertise in sanitation, hygienic design, food safety, microbiology, pest control, and quality systems. Strong communication skills and ability to influence at all organizational levels. Salary Range :
