SUMMARY:
Location:
Lancaster, PA
Schedule:
Full Time, Day Shift, M-F 8:00am to 4:30pm
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:
Provides leadership and direction in circumstances of patient care. Acts on behalf of administration in the absence of department heads (Lab, Pharmacy, Food Service, Security, etc.).
Leads others in the application of emergency protocols and coordinates resources to effectively resolve problems.
Reviews and assesses staffing needs of each clinical unit throughout the shift. Adjusts staffing accordingly.
Provides management through interpretation of hospital policy and procedure. Guides and directs employees to the appropriate sources of expertise for particular situations.
Addresses family or patient complaints during shift. Resolves crisis situations that arise regarding patient/family-relations issues.
Assists unit charge nurse/coordinators in patient placement/bed control during periods of high patient census. Coordinates inter-hospital transfers. Coordinates and/or assists with organ procurement.
Responds to all emergent situations at The Women & Babies Hospital.
Promotes family centered care provision in all clinical patient care areas
Promotes interdisciplinary team work activities on the evening/night shift.
Counsels and evaluates performance of staff; provides written input to performance appraisals for staff members. Disciplines staff members as needed. Identifies learning needs of staff and participates in the development of shift-specific education plans.
Participates in the development and implementation of patient outcomes-monitoring specific to shift. Provides necessary follow up.
REQUIREMENTS:
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse, issued by the PA Board of Nursing.
Bachelor of Science or equivalent experience for this position is required.
Three (3) years of experience as a Registered Nurse is required.
A health care provider in good standing with Medicare, Medicaid and other federal and state health insurance programs, i.e. not excluded from participation in Medicare, Medicaid or any other federal or state health insurance program.
Five (5) years of experience as a Registered Nurse caring for women and infants is preferred.
Three (3) or more years of broad based-management in diverse setting, with an emphasis on problem solving techniques is preferred.
This position requires a Professional License/Certification.
This position requires PA Child Abuse and FBI Fingerprinting Clearances.
