Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 4+ software engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture. Partner with product, design, and editorial teams to deliver engaging consumer-facing experiences. Drive technical strategy, architecture discussions, and long-term planning aligned with company goals. Champion engineering best practices, including CI/CD, testing, security, and performance optimization. Facilitate team ceremonies, clear blockers, and enable predictable delivery. Review code, provide guidance, and contribute to production coding when necessary. Ensure system reliability, scalability, and maintainability. Identify and address technical debt and operational inefficiencies. Partner with recruiting to hire, onboard, and grow diverse engineering talent across US and global teams. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience. 2+ years managing and growing software engineering teams. Strong communication skills for explaining technical topics to non-technical stakeholders. Experience delivering consumer-facing applications at scale using Agile methodologies. Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (preferably AWS), monitoring tools, and CI/CD pipelines. Familiarity with frontend and backend development. Security-focused mindset with emphasis on performance, scalability, and resilience. Passionate about mentoring and building inclusive, high-performing teams. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, news-driven environment and solve complex technical challenges. Collaborative, curious, and driven to create impactful products for CNN’s global audience. Preferred Qualifications
Experience managing remote, globally distributed teams. Background in real-time systems or content publishing platforms. Additional Information
