Position Summary: The Activities Director (Non Recreation Therapist) plans, organizes, develops, and directs quality activities for patients, ensuring that their recreational, physical, intellectual, spiritual, and social needs are met in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards. Education, Experience, And Licensure Requirements: Two (2) years experience in a social recreation program within the last five years, including at least one year full-time in a healthcare setting. Completed State-approved activity training. Prior experience with geriatrics preferred. Specific Job Requirements: Proficiency in arts/crafts/music is preferred. Ability to make independent decisions when necessary. Knowledge of practices, procedures, laws, regulations, and guidelines governing post-acute care facilities. Ability to implement and interpret departmental programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures. Proficiency in all competency areas, including patient rights, safety, and sanitation. Maintain professional relationships with staff, vendors, etc. Maintain confidentiality of proprietary and confidential information. Follow company policies, including harassment and compliance procedures. Adhere to Life Care’s Code of Conduct and complete mandatory training. Essential Functions: Provide clinical oversight within discipline and according to rehab standards. Plan, develop, organize, implement, and evaluate activity programs (entertainment, exercise, relaxation, education). Conduct daily rounds to ensure standards and patient needs are met. Chart patient progress and behavior descriptively. Escort patients to and from activities. Visit patients in their rooms if uninterested or unable to participate in group activities. Manage department within budget. Provide excellent customer service with a positive attitude. Assist in patient evacuation when needed. Maintain dependable attendance. Use reasoning skills and good judgment. Communicate effectively within an interdisciplinary team. Perform physical activities as required (sit, stand, bend, lift, etc.).
