$50$75/hour (DOE) Role Summary:

Were hiring a

North Carolina-based Employment Attorney or HR Legal Consultant

to join our growing Southeast team on a flexible, project-based contract. You will be our

go-to legal expert

for the NC market, supporting a region rich in behavioral health innovation, Medicaid-funded services, and human-centered clinics. You'll work mostly remotely and step in

only when needed , with full autonomy. This is an ideal opportunity for a solo attorney, boutique firm partner, or HR-versed legal consultant looking to make an impact in a mission-driven, high-growth firm. Responsibilities:

Review and draft policies, contracts, handbooks, and compliance SOPs

Advise on employee investigations, performance plans, and risk mitigation

Guide legal decisions involving FLSA, ADA, EEOC, FMLA, contractor classification, and NC-specific laws

Draft and review legal documents (NDAs, non-competes, severance, arbitration agreements)

Join high-level internal or client meetings when legal expertise is required

Monitor labor law changes in NC and advise leadership accordingly

Requirements:

JD and active law license in NC

5+ years of employment law experience, preferably supporting small businesses, healthcare, or nonprofits

Familiarity with Medicaid, behavioral health providers, or trauma-informed HR a plus

Must be comfortable operating independently as a 1099 contractor

Compensation & Perks:

$50 to$75/hour depending on experience and engagement scope
