Job Description
Assistant Director, Commercial Candescent works in a dynamic and collegial team of attorneys and contract managers with a mentoring approach from leadership. This position focuses on negotiating commercial contracts for Candescent’s growing customer base while balancing agility with risk management. KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Negotiate customer and vendor contracts Exercise sound judgment in advising business clients on contract interpretation and risk Develop contract templates to drive efficiencies Lead a direct-report contract manager Assist with preparing detailed playbooks to frame risk profiles for commercial and vendor contracts Train sales teams on key legal terms and negotiating strategies to set realistic customer expectations Collaborate cross-functionally to close commercial contract terms with information security, sales, finance, and compliance teams Opportunity for career development following demonstrated mastery of commercial contracts across various legal areas, including partner engagements, fintech regulatory compliance, employment law, and corporate governance BASIC REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE:
J.D. from an accredited, top-tier law school and admission to a State Bar 7+ years negotiating enterprise-level commercial SaaS contracts, including Data Protection Addendums and professional services agreements Self-starter who works with urgency and proactively manages response timelines Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills Confidence and efficacy in client-facing situations, presenting a positive and professional image Team player with attention to detail Preferred qualifications include knowledge of applicable regulatory law, privacy accreditation, and experience with privacy by design in product development. Travel is not expected.
