Job Details Description Holy Redeemer Parish is seeking a part-time Director of Sacred Music. The ideal candidate will have a deep love for the heritage of Sacred Music in the Catholic Church, with an appreciation for reverence and sacredness in the Mass. This person will oversee liturgical music at Holy Redeemer, St. Thomas Aquinas Parish in Camas, and Star of the Sea Mission in Stevenson, although not present during Mass at these locations. The director will be responsible for directing all three choirs at Holy Redeemer, overseeing sacred music for Holy Redeemer and St. Thomas Parishes, and coordinating with the choir at Star of the Sea Mission. Responsibilities: Use of the St. Michael Hymnal and Lumen Christi Missals. Singing the Entrance, Offertory, and Communion antiphons in Latin. Same repertoire for both parishes with one rehearsal per week. Selecting and coordinating music for liturgical celebrations, including Sundays, Holy Days, and special events. Recruiting, hiring, training, and leading volunteer vocal musicians; integrating paid section leaders and accompanists. Using the Graduale Simplex with a goal to introduce English Propers and possibly Gregorian Propers. Familiarity with Gregorian and English chant resources and performance. Knowledge of Missal Chants of the Third Edition of the Roman Missal, GIRM, and related documents. Proficiency in choral conducting, training choirs, and conducting while playing piano or organ. Arranging music for choir and instrumental needs. Proficiency in organ playing, hymnody, solo repertoire, and improvisation within liturgy. Qualifications: Be a practicing Catholic. Experience with the St. Michael Hymnal and Lumen Christi Missals. Experience singing Latin antiphons. Experience in selecting and coordinating liturgical music. Experience in recruiting, hiring, and leading volunteer and paid musicians. Experience transitioning from Graduale Propers to English Propers. Familiarity with Gregorian and English chant resources. Knowledge of the Third Edition Missal Chants and GIRM. Proficiency in choral conducting and training. Ability to arrange music for choral and instrumental needs. Proficiency in organ performance and improvisation. Salary is determined based on internal equity, market data, applicant’s skills and experience, and relevant degrees and certifications. Benefits:
