Machine Learning Scientist with Audio DSP background Collaborate with senior machine learning researchers, engineers, and speech processing researchers. Provide technical expertise to address supervised and unsupervised learning problems in an applied research and development environment. Develop and deploy modern machine learning and statistical methods (such as CART, Random Forests, clustering, classification algorithms, Bayesian models, neural networks, SVM, etc.) for pattern recognition from audio signals. Familiarity with large datasets, cloud-based development and deployment, open-source practices, frameworks, and experience in deploying applications to production is desirable. In this role you will: Provide technical expertise and execution know-how to design machine learning algorithms and solutions for challenging problems. Determine and apply appropriate methodologies (e.g., neural networks, CART, Bayesian methods) in speech processing and related domains. Define data requirements, evaluate data quality, perform statistical analyses using tools like R, Python, SAS, MATLAB, or Splus. Develop technical approaches for major challenges. Collaborate closely with business counterparts to understand requirements, domain knowledge, models, and data needs. Communicate technical analyses and results effectively. Work with offshore and in-house technical and business teams. Desired Skills and Experience: Doctorate (preferred) or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Applied Physics, Applied Statistics, or Engineering. Strong foundation in machine learning theories. Advanced knowledge of audio digital signal processing and speech processing. Ability to apply theoretical and experiential knowledge to solve problems. Experience developing machine learning packages using Java, Python, C++. Experience with PHP and MySQL. Experience coding for operating systems like Android, iOS, Mac, Linux, Windows. Willing to work out of an office in Pasadena, CA. Desired Characteristics: Experience designing and prototyping algorithms on various data types. Experience applying machine learning to different problem domains. Knowledge of relational databases, SQL, and platforms like MATLAB. Interest or experience with large datasets, cloud architectures, and deployment frameworks. Contributions to open source machine learning projects. Strong analytical skills, with a record of publications, development, or deployment. Excellent teamwork, customer focus, and communication skills. Ability to take initiative, work independently, and deliver results under deadlines. Flexible to work across functions and levels. Interest in working for a young company.
