Public Programs and Events Coordinator Location: DC Metro area Clearance: Minimum a Secret Clearance

Job Summary: The Public Programs and Events Coordinator will plan and execute public and private events for the museum, working closely with internal teams and external partners. Responsibilities include coordinating partnerships with speakers, drafting content for event promotion, and supporting research needs for programming and accessibility. The role requires strong communication skills, especially in professional email outreach and event coordination. A background in event planning for federal agencies and a degree in History, International Relations, Government, or a related field are essential.

Key Responsibilities: Work in coordination with the museum’s Education Team, Curatorial Team, Development Team, Operations Team, Digital Outreach Team, and the Historian to plan and implement public programs and invitation-only events relevant to the museum, its mission/content, and fundraising. Coordinate program-specific partnerships with outside speakers and groups, including scheduling meetings and drafting briefing materials and emails for senior museum staff. Research and draft blog posts, articles, and other written content related to upcoming programs for use on the museum’s website and social media pages. As needed, assist the museum historian with research and content production related to programs. Assist staff with researching and drafting products such as accessibility statements and surveys related to overall visitor experience as they relate to events/programming including, but not limited to, topics of accessibility and security. Oversee space walkthroughs and direct external offices to the proper resources for carrying out their programs. Qualifications:

Demonstrated experience planning private events and public programs for 50 to 100+ people. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on professional and concise email outreach, including program/event invitations, and coordinating with outside offices and speakers. 2+ years of experience working for a federal agency. Bachelor’s Degree in History, International Relations, Government, or another related field.
