Company Description Empowered Parents in Community (EPIC) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to fostering parent leadership and enhancing school conditions to support family engagement and meet students' educational needs. Our mission focuses on dismantling systemic racial inequities through the collective organizing and intentional engagement of African American parents and communities. We advocate for high-quality educational opportunities and the equitable distribution of resources. EPIC creates and leads community forums, providing safe spaces for parents, teachers, and students to discuss experiences within the education system and collaborate on solutions.
Role Description This is a full-time hybrid role for a Communications & Outreach Director, located in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill Area. Some work from home is acceptable. The Communications & Outreach Director will be responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies, overseeing community outreach efforts, managing and researching budgets, and strategic planning to support EPIC's mission. Daily tasks include engaging with the community, collaborating with stakeholders, organizing events and forums, and representing EPIC at various functions.
Qualifications Strong skills in Communication Experience in Strategic Planning and Research Competence in Community Outreach Experience with Budgeting and financial management Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills Ability to work independently and in a team Experience in non-profit work is a plus Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Non-Profit Management, or related field
