About CSUDH Toro Auxiliary Partners The California State University, Dominguez Hills Toro Auxiliary Partners was incorporated in 1968 as a partner of the University to provide services and develop and enhance programs that are an integral part of the University's educational mission. CSU Dominguez Hills is a highly diverse, metropolitan university primarily serving the South Bay area of Los Angeles County. Established in 1960, CSU Dominguez Hills is one of the 23 campuses that comprise the California State University system.
About the College of Education The College of Education (COE) at CSUDH prepares teachers, counselors, and school leaders who are committed to equity and racial justice. The COE offers a wide selection of programs, and in each of these programs, students will encounter individualized academic advising and step-by-step guidance to program completion. We are committed to preparing educators who will teach all students with the same high learning outcome expectation and who sustain constant school improvements.
About the Position TheCollege of Education Student Ambassador, under the supervision and guidance of the Toros Teach LA Project Analyst and Student Success Center Director, will support the college with student engagement and special events, building campus community. The Student Ambassador will support the efforts to host special events and engage with students to promote community, student services, and academic resiliency. Importantly, the Student Ambassador's role is to support the educational journey of College of Education students towards graduation and into a teaching credential program.
Employment at Toro Auxiliary Partnersis on an at-will basis. It can be terminated by either an employee or Toro Auxiliary Partnersat any time with or without cause or advance notice. Permanent status can neither be obtained nor granted.
Salary Range (Part-time hourly, non-exempt): • $16.50-$18 an hour • 12 hours a week (average) • August – May
Key Duties and Responsibilities: • Serve as peer mentor, helping COE students navigate transition to the College of Education. • Participate in COE community building mixers, orientation events, student panels, and special events. • Facilitate small group discussions with current and prospective students providing insights to student and academic services. • Welcome new and transfer students and lead campus tours. • Collaborate with TTLA Marketing Specialist, Educational Specialist, and Student Success Centers on communication strategies to engage with students. • Assist with planning, logistics, and set-up for hosting special events. • Plan and create content for social media to promote COE calendared events. • Attend student leadership training sessions and participate in check-in meetings. • Interface with ASI College of Education representative. • Attend freshman advising workshops as student representative. Desired Qualifications: • Enrolled undergraduate student in the College of Education (with one year completed). • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable speaking in front of groups. • Enthusiasm for helping others and building community with Toro pride. • Reliable, organized, and proactive. • Commitment to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all students. • Prior experience in peer mentoring, student clubs, or student leadership, part of a team is a plus but not required.
Minimum Qualifications: • Enrolled undergraduate student in the College of Education (with one year completed). • Attend and participate in 10 special calendared events. • Attend training sessions and participate in regular team check-in meetings. • Knowledge of social media use.
