Engineering Director
will oversee and be involved in all engineering activities related to the
design, development, testing, and production of aviation piston engines and replacement parts . This role requires a strategic leader with deep technical expertise in aerospace engineering, a passion for innovation, and a proven track record in managing multidisciplinary engineering teams. The Engineering Director will ensure compliance with FAA regulations, drive product development, and collaborate cross-functionally to meet business objectives. K ey Responsibilities
Lead and Mentor:
Manage, develop, and inspire a multidisciplinary engineering team, promoting technical excellence and professional growth.
Drive Product Development:
Oversee the design, testing, and certification of piston engines and replacement parts, ensuring products meet rigorous safety, reliability, and performance standards.
Ensure FAA Compliance:
Maintain full adherence to FAA regulations, industry standards, and certification requirements for all engineering projects.
Oversee R&D and Innovation:
Champion research and development initiatives to improve performance, reduce costs, and integrate new manufacturing technologies.
Manage Projects from Start to Finish:
Oversee engineering project timelines, budgets, and resources to deliver on schedule and within scope.
Collaborate Across Departments:
Work closely with manufacturing, quality assurance, supply chain, and sales to ensure seamless product delivery.
Resolve Technical Issues:
Partner with Technical Support to address and resolve in-service product issues quickly and effectively.
Implement Continuous Improvement:
Apply Lean and Agile methodologies to optimize processes and eliminate inefficiencies.
Engage with Customers & Stakeholders:
Interface with aircraft owners, distributors, suppliers, and regulators to address technical requirements and provide expert guidance.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (Master's degree or MBA preferred).
Experience:
Minimum 10 years in aerospace engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
Technical Expertise:
Proven experience in piston engine design, development, or manufacturing; strong background in thermodynamics, materials science, and engine systems.
Regulatory Knowledge:
Deep understanding of FAA regulations, certification processes, and industry standards.
Tools & Technology:
Proficiency with CAD software (Creo, SolidWorks, CATIA) and engineering analysis tools (ANSYS, MATLAB).
Manufacturing Knowledge:
Familiarity with manufacturing processes for precision components.
Leadership Skills:
Demonstrated ability to lead high-performing engineering teams and deliver results.
Project Management:
Experience with Agile or Lean methodologies.
Soft Skills:
Exceptional problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills
