You'll be working in a dynamic, start-up-like environment within Brambles Digital, working within our Tracking Technology function. We’re driven by rapid learning, exploring solutions at pace to tackle real-world customer challenges.
As a Senior Hardware Test Engineer, you’ll lead black-box testing focused on validating device behaviour in areas such as GNSS modes and RF performance.
You'll lead on strategic test definition, automation, and third-party device evaluation, with coverage across SoCs and ARM processors. You’ll design test methodologies, lead hands-on testing initiatives, and apply your expertise in automation and external device assessment to drive innovation and quality.
About the Role: Ensure the quality, performance, and reliability of hardware for low-power embedded systems, focusing on real-time LPWAN and Cellular IoT networks. Develop and execute comprehensive testing strategies to validate hardware applications, optimizing signal quality, power efficiency, and network performance. Drive innovation and problem-solving by actively addressing new features and resolving bugs, building a robust knowledge base while contributing to the team's success. Key Responsibilities may include: Design and implement test strategies for hardware applications in low-power, small-system environments, ensuring system requirements are met. Develop, document, and execute test plans for I/O communication protocols and device drivers within embedded systems. Conduct thorough testing of tracking and sensor telemetry applications for real-time LPWAN or Cellular IoT networks. Optimize testing procedures to assess network performance, signal quality, and power efficiency of hardwarde solutions. Lead the implementation of automated testing tools and methodologies to improve software development quality and efficiency. Manage and maintain the version control of test scripts and test data, ensuring consistency across development cycles. Collaborate with development teams to conduct technical reviews, identifying potential improvements in code quality and system architecture. Support post-deployment testing and integration efforts, ensuring seamless product functionality and system performance. Experience: Hands on lab testing exposure in areas such as IoT, RF technology and embedded systems Experience on Hardware Software testing and coding ability – ideally with Python Hands on experience in:
Systems Programming, Operating Systems, RTOS, mbed Networking Protocols – TCP/IP, UDP, MQTT, CoAP, SNTP Wi-Fi, BLE, and Cellular networks RF Technologies with experience with hardware QA for Wi-Fi, solar systems or Bluetooth systems Handling sensors (accelerometers, gyro, GPS, humidity, temperature) and actuators. Inter chip communication protocols: I2C, SPI, USART
Testing experience in interfacing to serial ports, A/D and D/A converters, RAM/Flash memories, and other digital electronics Testing experience with ARM Cortex-M based microcontrollers. Experience with hardware debug tools such as debuggers (JTAG)/protocol analysers/Oscilloscopes/Multi-meters/etc. Added advantages of Cloud platforms (AWS) expertise and web technologies such as JavaScript, HTML/CSS, nodel.js, REST APIs, and tools like curl and postman. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 2+ years of experience in related fields. MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field is preferred with 1+ years of experience. Remote Type
