Location: Onsite and Remote Office
Position Summary: The school social worker performs a variety of functions related to the implementation and coordination of social-emotional learning, counseling and mental health programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary Focus
Supports the growth and development of the department through a high level of collaboration with all members of the department team and through a high level of focus on the needs of the individual department Develops and executes plans in collaboration with the senior director or designee of the department in order to meet the department's mission and vision Stays mindful of the larger needs of the school when making recommendations to the senior director or designee and sustains the department through a high level of support Conducts research on educational laws and trends that pertain to the department as needed Provides direct services including individual, group and family counseling for students Provides behavioral consultation services to school staff Support school teams in collection, analysis , and utilization of data-based decision making Develops Department and School
Notices department needs and shares those needs along with creative solutions with the senior director or designee Executes a plan with the senior director or designee of the department in order to meet department goals Collaborates with the senior director or designee on developing the regional agenda for the department with an effort to tie content to the department goal Responds to questions in the compilation using a constructive, supportive, and positive tone Maintains department manual and calendar with all department processes and protocols and ensures it is accurate, up to date, and continually referenced and used Stakeholder Engagement
Assists with presentations for the board, authorizer, and other stakeholders as needed Provides professional development and attends meetings as needed. Reviews WASC document in relation to department to ensure accuracy, thoroughness, proper grammar, clear writing, and conciseness Leads WASC committee as needed Direct Counseling Services
Assesses student data to develop an action plan for direct services Assesses home, school, personal, and community factors that may affect a student's learning and overall well-being Provides individual, group, and family treatment targeting students identified at risk of school failure due to social, behavioral, and emotional problems utilizing evidence based and/or evidence informed practices Creates a direct service program which includes one-on-one and group counseling opportunities Conducts virtual direct counseling services and in-person as needed Fosters positive relationships with students and families Provides counseling with students and parents of students Analyzes the effectiveness of direct counseling services offered and make adjustments as needed Conducts risk assessments for students and facilitate linkage of students to appropriate support services Indirect Counseling Services
Assesses student data to develop an action plan for indirect services Consults with teachers, classified and certificated support staff, administrators, other psychologists Identifies community resources and referrals for indirect services Makes suggestions as needed to additional services Maintains an ongoing understanding the scope of the schools' services and making referral suggestions as appropriate Analyzes the effectiveness of indirect counseling offered and make adjustments as needed Serves as liaison person between school, family, and community resources Manages protocols for service delivery and ensures uniformity across the school Management and Accountability
Identifies student counseling needs through data collection in conjunction with Senior Director of Special Education or designee Possess an extensive knowledge of a variety of forms of intervention and prevention models for both individuals and group settings Review attendance policies annually in collaboration with district administration. Creates school counseling plan based on identified student needs Attends professional development based on identified student needs Monitors academic, behavior and attendance progress of students and make recommendations for appropriate interventions Sets attainable goals to develop school counseling department Consults and collaborates with students, teachers, parents, community resources/ organizations Provides prevention and intervention services for students such as the conflict resolution, crisis intervention, and student assistance programs. Utilizes district data management systems for documentation of referrals, delivery and evaluation/measurement and progress monitoring of social work services. Keeps informed on regulations and laws applicable to all phases of student guidance, mental health, juvenile justice, military service, and education code Assumes duties and responsibilities with respect to the reinforcement of appropriate school behavior, attendance, and discipline in accordance with State law and District policies and school rules and regulations. Possess a thorough understanding of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Code of Ethics Documents all correspondence and keeps a record of relevant data Proctoring duties as needed during the testing season, as needed Academic, College, and Career Guidance
Collaborates with the secondary school counselor and high school principal to determine the guidance needs of the department. Oversees academic parameters for high school matriculation, Common Core Standards, and UC and CSU entrance processes and requirements Disseminates educational and vocational information Evaluates seniors for graduation requirements, provides for deficiency makeup and notifies parents of seniors who will not meet graduation requirements. Provides occupational information and stimulating ideas to encourage pupils to seek further information regarding career choices. Oversees the development, implementation, and supervision of systems and procedures for disseminating information regarding college and other training institutions, including entrance requirements, program offerings, scholarships and financial aid Conducts enrollment meetings with students to review transcripts and course plan and proposes course schedules Other Duties
Responds to all school related communication within 24 business hours Documents and refers to the school's management all formal disciplinary actions involving students; supporting management with addressing and resolving complaints from students and parents in a timely manner; ensuring compliance with the provisions of California Penal Code Section 11166 (Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act) Performs other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS GUIDE

Education and Experience:
A valid, current, and appropriate California state pupil personnel services credential-school social worker. A copy of credential to be provided and kept current. Other Qualifications:
State and federal fingerprint clearance (LiveScan) to work with students (Ed. Code 44237). No prospective employee can report to work without this clearance being received and Human Resources notifying the immediate supervisor of this clearance. Proof of a clear TB Tine test or signed Certificate of Completion dated within the last 60 days (Ed. Code 49406) upon employment and thereafter updated every four years The employee is expected to acquire and maintain a working computer with an internet connection and a printer. Knowledge:
