JOB SUMMARY:
Under limited supervision, the Director of Finance shares responsibility with the VP of Finance for creating divisional business plans, budgets, forecasting, and quarterly updates. This role oversees the accuracy of accounting and internal financial reporting, ensuring financial integrity and adherence to GAAP and company policies. The Director also assists with sales contract administration and communicates significant accounting issues to senior management.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Prepares annual business plans, quarterly forecasts, and monthly reports; manages execution and partners with VPF on significant changes.
- Develops and implements action plans to meet strategic goals; collaborates with other disciplines to improve internal reporting and practices.
- Identifies cost-saving and profit-enhancing opportunities; reviews costs and expenses to optimize profit margins.
- Participates in land acquisition, oversees land development budgets, and ensures pipeline supports growth with minimal risk.
- Monitors and approves purchase orders, check requests, security requests, lot starts, and recurring payments.
Education/Experience/Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting required; Master’s preferred.
- Current CPA license or willingness to obtain.
- 6+ years of financial management experience in homebuilding industry; 4+ years CPA/public accounting experience.
- Progressive management responsibility within publicly traded organizations.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong technical, analytical, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (intermediate level or higher).
- Excellent organizational, leadership, and team collaboration skills.
- Results-oriented with strategic planning and change management abilities.
Work Requirements
- 8-hour workdays with flexibility for overtime.
- Professional conduct and ability to perform physical requirements with or without accommodations.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
- On-site location at KB Home Coastal, Inc., San Diego, CA.
Compensation And Benefits
- Base salary: $140,000 - $175,000 annually, paid semi-monthly.
- Eligible for annual bonus.
- Benefits include health insurance, 401(k) with company match, paid time off, and mobile stipend.
