RESPONSIBILITIES
The Senior Health Educator will perform all duties as a Health Educator but with additional duties which will include:
Conducting necessary research and identifying implementation methods for the Bronx Youth Advisory Board and the Peed Education Leaders to utilize within the targeted communities. Working closely with the Bronx Youth Advisory Board and Peer Education Leaders to create and implement activities and assessments geared towards positive youth development. Help to recruit, lead, guide, and support the youth on Bronx Youth Advisory Board. Help to recruit, lead, guide, and support the Peer Education Leaders. Conduct outreach and attend events with the Bronx Youth Advisory Board and Peer Education Leaders to assess the adolescent needs in the targeted community.
Provide direct high-quality training and service provision to adolescent youth on the Bronx Youth Advisory Board and in the Peer Leader group. Use evidence-based models, engage adolescent youth population in screening and assessing the educational needs particular to these age groups. Oversee the planning, and implementation of community outreach and activities which include: Promote program services to the community and adolescent youth. Deliver and facilitate judgement free educational workshops related to topics promoting and encouraging positive youth development, using evidence base models. Offering equitable access to sexual health education through training and clinic tours. Provide assistance and/ or referrals for youth to obtain comprehensive family planning services, health services or other support services as identified. Complete monthly and weekly report Lead program teams Other work as assigned by program managers QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in one of the following fields of study: Public Health, Community Health, Health Promotion or Health Education. CHES®/ MCHES® certification preferred Experience working with the adolescent youth population is required. Strong writing and public speaking skills are essential. Follow-up and computer experience is required. Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency is preferred. Advanced-level professional competency in written and spoken English language is required. Authorization to work in the United States for any employer is mandatory. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods. Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time. Ability to climb five flights of stairs, if required to conduct home visits and/or fieldwork. Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents. Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation. Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather, if required to conduct field work.
