Why does the job exist?

This position exists to provide high-quality therapeutic services to individuals experiencing acute and chronic emotional, behavioral, and psychiatric conditions. The role is critical in ensuring patients receive the clinical interventions they need to stabilize and successfully reintegrate into the community. Therapists at NMBHI are key contributors in delivering trauma informed, person centered care that addresses the whole person.

How does it get done?

- Provide individual and group psychotherapy to adults with acute or chronic mental illness. - Conduct psychosocial assessments and develop person centered treatment plans. - Collaborate with multidisciplinary team including psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, and rehabilitation specialists. - Participate in treatment team meetings and contribute clinical insight to care planning. - Engage in crisis intervention and deescalation support as needed. - Monitor patient progress and adjust interventions accordingly. - Support discharge planning by identifying patient strengths, needs, and community based services. - Maintain clinical documentation in compliance with hospital and regulatory standards.

Minimum Qualification

Licensure in New Mexico as an LMSW, LISW, LMHC, LMFT, LPCC, LCSW, or LPAT and one (1) year of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field above licensure requirements and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling one (1) year may substitute for the required experience.

Employment Requirements

1. SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITIONS--This position ls designated as safely sensitive. Employment Is subject to pre-employment and random testing. In accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules, and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. Employment ls subject to nationwide criminal background checks and is conditional pending results. 2. CRIMINAL RECORDS BACKGROUND CHECK-Must successfully complete post offer pre-employment criminal records background check. Employment is conditional pending the results of criminal records background checks. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Successful completion of the Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA).

Working Conditions

This position will work in an office setting with exposure to Visual Video Display Terminal, personal computer, and phone usage. The work is in an adult inpatient psychiatric hospital with patients who may exhibit unpredictable behaviors.
