Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia's capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. Reynolds is seeking a Military Support Specialist to advance the recruitment, onboarding, and success of military-connected students.

The Military Support Specialist plays a key role in supporting veterans, active-duty service members, reservists, and military-affiliated dependents throughout their college journey. This position works closely with the Military Resource Center, Admissions, Advising, and the School Certifying Official to ensure military-connected students receive the guidance, support, and services needed to thrive at Reynolds Community College. The Military Support Specialist will deliver high-quality service while ensuring compliance with institutional, state, and federal regulations.

The role includes, but is not limited to the following duties:

Support the recruitment of military-connected students through coordinated outreach efforts and collaboration with the Admissions Office Assist in organizing and implementing Military Resource Center programs, including new student orientation, leadership development, campus engagement, and satellite support services Support the academic advising of military students in partnership with Advising and Transfer Services, under the guidance of the Military Support Coordinator Assist the School Certifying Official with processing VA educational benefits and certifications in accordance with federal, state, and institutional policies Verify enrollment data and program eligibility for VA students, input certification data into VCCS and VA systems, and maintain accurate records in compliance with DoD MOU, VA, and State Approving Agency requirements Serve as a liaison between students and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to resolve certification issues or clarify benefit questions Stay informed of regulatory changes and participate in ongoing VA and state-mandated trainings and professional development sessions Provide timely, professional support to students in person, over the phone, and via email, ensuring a welcoming and inclusive environment Work independently and collaboratively with diverse student populations and campus departments to deliver responsive, student-centered service Perform other duties as assigned to support student success and institutional goals Minimum Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of local, state, and federal veterans' programs, including educational benefits available to veterans, spouses, and dependents Ability to interpret and apply VA regulations and institutional policies related to military-connected student services Demonstrated ability to build rapport and collaborate effectively with a diverse population of students, faculty, staff, administrators, and external partners Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet established deadlines Effective problem-solving and critical thinking skills Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written Ability to work independently while contributing to a team-oriented environment Proficiency with technology and student information systems used to support advising, certification, and engagement efforts Additional Considerations:
