DescriptionUniversity of Iowa Health Care is seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager for our OBGYN Clinics located at Jefferson St - Downtown Campus & North Dodge. The Assistant Nurse Manager manages direct care nursing functions to assure that health services, medical care, medical/health professions education, and evidence based practice research programs are delivered effectively and efficiently. Positions in this job family will have direct patient care responsibilities. Efforts will focus on planning, organizing, directing, evaluating, and improving health care operations, clinical and education programs of clinical departments.Duties include but are not limited to:•Participates in the assessment and evaluation of nursing care requirements for the patient population.•Assists in the development, implementation and evaluation of standards of care for a patient population, which are consistent with current nursing practice and the condition and age of the patients.•Assesses patient care to ensure that patient assignment system reflects patient care needs and staff capabilities.•Monitors and contributes to individual patient care and discharge planning activities carried out by unit staff nurses.•Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members and implements care planning activities for specific group of patients.•Serves as a role model for staff by demonstrating clinical expertise when providing direct patient care.•Serves as a resource for patient care problems.•Practices according to department/division/unit policies, procedures, protocols and practice guidelines to maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff.•Collaborates with the Nurse Manager to assist with implementation of division and unit(s) strategic plans.Percent of Time: 100%Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pmLocation: Main location will be Jefferson St- Downtown Campus with coverage at our North Dodge clinic as neededP&S Pay Plan: https://hr.uiowa.edu/pay/pay-plans/professional-and-scientific-pay-structureBenefits Highlights: Fringe benefit package including paid vacation; sick leave; health, dental, life and disability insurance options; and generous employer contributions into retirement plans. Relocation Assistant available to qualified applicants.https://hr.uiowa.edu/benefitsQualificationsEducation Required:•Bachelors of Nursing RequiredRequired Qualifications:•Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required by date of hire•Excellent written and verbal communication skills•Excellent problem-solving skills, decision making, and critical thinking skills•Proficiency with computer software applications (such as Microsoft programs)•Demonstrates time management, organization of workload, delegation, attention to detail and thoroughness•Collaborates and develops effective interpersonal relationships with nursing staff, medical staff, interdisciplinary teams, and other hospital departments•Demonstrates effective teaching skills for staff and patient education•Professional job-related experience fostering or promoting a welcoming and respectful work/academic environment where people of all backgrounds and perspectives feel welcomed and appreciated; or demonstrated the ability to do soDesirable Qualifications:•Current experience managing/leading transitions in care•Experience in Labor and Delivery nursing•Knowledge of UI and UI Health Care policies, procedures, and regulations•Experience working in a large academic medical center•Experience working in a union environmentPlease attach a resume as part of the application process.
