As an Excess & Surplus Underwriter, you'll join a small yet dynamic and rapidly growing team. This is a unique opportunity for an entrepreneurial professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is eager to play a foundational role in building a best-in-class E&S underwriting practice. As an early member of our E&S team, you will be responsible for driving new business production, managing broker relationships, and underwriting complex risks with a focus on large accounts. competitive compensation, paid time off, comprehensive wellness benefits and programs, employer funded health savings account, profit sharing, 401k, paid parental leave, employee stock purchase plan, tuition assistance and professional continuing education We'll count on you to: Collaborate with colleagues across the organization: Work with colleagues to deploy Berkley One's E&S Underwriting capability Use your previous extensive experience to determine individual risk acceptability, pricing, coverage, terms and conditions with a goal of growing a profitable portfolio Develop, analyze and evaluate information and exposures for complex risks Interface with Enterprise Risk Management, Actuarial and other business functions to actively manage CAT property exposure Measure and optimize portfolio progress by reviewing and analyzing underwriting data and monitoring industry best practices to identify opportunities for continuous improvement Partner with Brokers: Develop, maintain and manage broker relationships based on trust, the value of your expertise, and your responsiveness Work with producers to solicit, underwrite and price new and renewal surplus lines personal property and casualty business Create Berkley One agency champions by building strong relationships, coaching on new business solutions, and taking time to understand what's most important to the broker and client Implement annual goals and strategies for brokers and track progress to plan Other duties as assigned. Qualifications
What you need to have: 5+ years of high net worth personal lines E&S or MGA underwriting experience required. Must hold appropriate agent/broker licensing (specifically, P&C and SL Broker licenses in your home state and non-resident licenses in other states in which we do business) Ability to travel as needed, including overnight travel. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. A strong customer service bias. An analytical mind. Base Salary Range: $80,000 - $120,000
