Managing Director, Special Inspections
Reporting to the Principal in charge of our New York Region, the Managing Director of Special Inspections Operations will plan, manage, and oversee the activities and operations of our regional inspections functions. This leader will be responsible for developing and growing this technical team, ensuring the efficient execution of projects. They will be fully accountable for P&L results and decisions. This role involves overseeing the inspections in our New York building market, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations, managing a team and delivering a steady growth. The Managing Director will also be responsible for strategic planning, client relations, and ensuring the highest levels of quality and integrity in all inspection activities. Key Responsibilities Manage the department's defined utilization targets in accordance with billable hour requirements. Be accountable for the P&L results Develop the marketing and sales strategy to ensure a sustainable growth going forward Provide strategic direction and leadership to the Special Inspection department Oversee daily operations, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in all testing and inspection activities Develop and implement the creation of new operational protocols and standards that govern day to day activities for the division Ensure special inspections and testing services resources are continually aligned to meet targets and address operational challenges while staying compliant with industry standards, regulations, and client specifications Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of inspection projects Develop and manage project budgets, resource allocation, and schedules Ensure that objectives and key results are sufficiently detailed and clearly communicated Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring their needs are met and maintaining strong, long-term relationships Identify and pursue new business opportunities in special inspection services Collaborate with the marketing team to implement strategies to grow the department's client base and launch new initiatives Develop innovative initiatives to enhance our delivery and growth rate Develop synergies with other Building & Real Estate business Develop cross selling and up selling opportunities to develop the customer value Continually analyze and evaluate operations to identify deficiencies and prepare reports outlining recommendations for improvement to the Assistant Commissioner with an eye on efficiency Perform all other duties as assigned by your supervisor or manager Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Architectural, Civil, or Mechanical preferred) 10+ Years of progressive experience in the construction/building inspection and testing services field Demonstrated ability to manage P&L Have a strong sales and business acumen Strong knowledge of operations and protocols of the Department of Buildings Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide array of stakeholders at multiple levels, internal and external Possess strong supervisory and technical skills, effective time-management skills, excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Excellent analytical thinking skills, and ability to develop, design, and implement long range plans, goals, and objectives. Professional License (PE) CWI, and/or NICET is preferred.
