Strive Coordinator
The STRIVE Coordinator will have an office provided by the Onondaga County District Attorney's office. This position is not responsible for any direct police work and is considered a civilian employee responsible for performing data analytics and providing advice on reducing violence in Onondaga County. This position is funded by external sources and is contingent on the continued receipt of those funds. Principal duties and essential functions include: Oversee the implementation of prevention-based strategies to combat intimate partner violence in accordance with Statewide Targeted Reduction in Intimate Partner Violence (STRIVE) guidance document. Oversee the implementation and coordination of a city-wide multi-disciplinary team focused on prevention of intimate partner violence. Facilitate the monthly STRIVE meetings and address any barriers preventing the strategy from achieving its desired outcome(s). Seek solutions to the barriers from the STRIVE partners and work with a Department of Criminal Justice (DCJS) Field Advisor to implement the solution. Act as a liaison with STRIVE initiative partners. Act as a liaison with Crime Victims and Sexual Assault services in the community. Establish protocols for intake, referrals, and case management. Coordinate related efforts between the Police Department and community-based agencies. Coordinate related efforts between the Police Department and social services agencies. Provide case management. Coordinate services for victim survivors and perpetrators. Ensure that monthly meeting minutes and Tracker Reports are delivered in a timely and accurate manner. Perform additional related work, as required. Performs a variety of related duties as assigned. Qualifications include: A minimum of ten years of law enforcement or human services experience, including five years as a supervisor and two years of executive management experience OR a Master's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, criminal justice, or closely related field and seven years of experience in law enforcement or human services. Five (5) years of experience working with evidence-based community violence reduction strategies including prior affiliation with research institutions specializing in criminal justice work. Two (1) year of experience managing grants. City of Syracuse residency is required and must be maintained.
