We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Business Analyst (Payroll). In this role, the successful candidate will oversee the efficiency and compliance of internal payments made to unions and voluntary deduction vendors. This position is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate payment processing, performing monthly reconciliations, and analyzing data to identify and resolve discrepancies. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills and a solid understanding of payment processes, enabling them to maintain balanced and compliant transactions each month. This role supports comprehensive payroll functions, including union processing, wage garnishment administration, and voluntary employee deductions. Job Responsibilities: Ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of all internal payments generated by Payroll Services Verifying payroll union and employee voluntary deductions data integrity Serving as point of contact to work closely with Payroll Remittance team, as well as, internal colleagues such as members of Accounts Payables, Budgets and General Ledger Accounting, to ensure timely payments and ensure timely reconciliations Working with management to implement improvement initiatives specific to deduction processing Supporting annual union budget forecasting with NYU Budgets Reconciling annual 1199 Union Benefit Fund Flat Rate calculations Supporting internal and external audits as needed Demonstrating creative thinking when seeking alternative solutions to processes and challenges related to internal payments Communicating clearly and concisely with customers in a professional and timely manner Efficiently organizing and managing tasks/projects. Delegating to appropriate personnel as needed Participating in evaluation and redesign of internal processes as needed Supporting the monthly processing and reconciliation of payroll for multiple union groups, ensuring timely and accurate remittances Responsible for monthly preparation, review, accuracy, and processing of payments for both employee union deductions and employer contributions Maintaining and updating union-related deductions and employer contributions in compliance with Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs) Acting as liaison between NYU Payroll Services, unions (including 1199), and employees to resolve union deduction issues confidentially and professionally Managing voluntary "Premium" deductions and rent deductions in coordination with NYU RED&F Monitoring and assisting Payroll staff with resolving 1199 union disability disputes Working closely with 1199 representatives on disability processing issues Processing wage garnishments including child support, tax levies, and court-ordered deductions; ensuring accurate calculation and payment Setting up and maintaining garnishment tables in the PeopleSoft HRMS system Preparing and submitting disclosures and documentation related to garnishment orders; responding to inquiries from government agencies and employees Preparing and maintaining detailed reports for garnishment and union payments; supporting internal and external audits with documentation and analysis Reconciling payroll deduction data with vendor payments in collaboration with NYU Accounting Ensuring compliance with all applicable labor laws, CBAs, and internal payroll policies Developing and refining payroll procedures to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and regulatory compliance Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelor degree in business, finance, IT, or healthcare related field. Minimum of 3 years of experience in business process analysis, financial or data analysis, or related tasks. Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Office, with a strong emphasis on Excel, Word, and Visio. Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration Five years of nonprofit, healthcare, or other related Payroll experience, including strong working knowledge of accounts payable, general ledger, and month/year-end close At least 2-3 years of PeopleSoft HCM system experience Ability to interpret and advise on finance and accounting policies and practices Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks with competing priorities Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP functionality Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with customers in a timely manner Ability to respect and maintain confidentiality of all financial information within NYULH Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
