Qualifications: Certification as required by the State of Alabama and the Gadsden City Board of Education Status: Exempt Reports To: Principal Supervises: N/A Salary: See District Salary Schedule Job Goal: To provide individual and group counseling sessions in relation to social, emotional, academic, and educational needs. Information/Guidance Services: Plan and conduct orientation activities (matriculation from school to school, programs of studies, registration, etc.). Recommend appropriate student placement in accordance with aptitude, interest, and career goals. Provide information on secondary and post-secondary programs of study and training. Provide information and assist in long range planning for scholarships and/or financial aid, including assistance in completing forms and meeting application deadlines. Provide vocational and career information relevant to their aptitude, achievement, and interest. Provide current information and assistance to students in relation to job market trends. Provide information in regard to appropriate community service agencies for referral. Assist in securing clinical and health services for students by making referrals and appointments and disseminating agency recommendation to appropriate teachers. Pupil Appraisal: Coordinate all testing services within the school and disseminate test results to appropriate teachers. Make referrals for individualized test and psychological evaluations. Assist in identifying students with special abilities or needs and make recommendations for special services ranging from remediation to advanced placement. Conduct staff training for test administration and interpretation for test results. Provide test security and maintain proper testing conditions and procedures. Pupil Personnel Records: Serve as a leader/consultant in regard to pupil records. Coordinate the organization/maintenance of meaningful data such as standardized test scores, academic records, anecdotal records, and other appropriate files including provision for confidentiality of records. Acquire and organize follow-up data on former students, both graduates and dropouts. Other: Perform other reasonable and appropriate assignments as may be delegated by the administration in accordance with the policies of the Gadsden City Board of Education.
