Patient Intake Assistant

We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate individual to join our team as a Patient Intake Assistant at our Urgent Care Center. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for ensuring a smooth and efficient intake process for our patients. The ideal candidate will possess excellent organizational skills, strong interpersonal abilities, and a commitment to providing exceptional patient care. Responsibilities: Greet and assist patients during the check-in process, ensuring a welcoming and efficient experience. Collect and verify patient demographic information, insurance details, and medical history. Perform basic vital sign measurements, including blood pressure, temperature, and pulse, adhering to established protocols. Accurately record patient information in electronic health records (EHR) systems. File and organize patient documents, maintaining confidentiality and compliance with healthcare regulations. Verify insurance coverage and eligibility, explaining benefits and financial responsibilities to patients. Assist patients in completing necessary forms and documentation. Coordinate and schedule follow-up appointments or additional tests as directed by healthcare providers. Communicate appointment details and instructions to patients. Provide clear and concise information to patients regarding wait times, procedures, and any other relevant details. Answer patient inquiries and address concerns, escalating issues when necessary. Assist healthcare providers with non-invasive medical procedures within the scope of the role. Prepare examination rooms and ensure they are stocked with necessary supplies. Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the patient waiting area and examination rooms. Follow established protocols for infection control and safety. Collect and process patient payments, providing receipts and maintaining accurate financial records. Collaborate with billing personnel to address any billing-related inquiries or discrepancies. Other duties may be required as assigned. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in healthcare administration or related field is a plus. Previous experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a patient-facing role. Strong organizational and multitasking skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems. Basic understanding of medical terminology and procedures. Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations. Empathetic and patient-centered approach to healthcare services.
