Reports to: Grounds Manager Job Status: Non-exempt Position Summary: Perform basic grounds keeping/Irrigation chores. Job Responsibilities: Responsible for maintaining and repairing irrigation systems, ensuring efficient water usage on campus grounds. Landscapes and maintains campus grounds. Performs scheduled lawn mowing, trimming, weeding, and fertilizing, tree and shrub pruning, repair and reseeding of damaged lawn areas. Plants and maintains trees, shrubs, and flowers. Waters lawn, trees and plants. Rakes and disposes of leaves and other yard waste. Maintains driveways, sidewalks, and parking lots. Keeps grounds free of litter. Maintains tools and equipment. Picks up and delivers material and equipment. Reports maintenance problems related to trade but not limited to trade Other duties as assigned Qualifications: Be able to operate all types of equipment, machinery and tools to perform duties. Other Job Related Knowledge, Skills and abilities: Types of machines, tools, and other special equipment used to perform job duties: power push mower, riding mower, gas-powered leaf blower, wheelbarrow, hand tools including rake, shovel, spreader, and chemical sprayer, portable sprinkler system, and hose. Must be able to work with others and communicate in a firm and friendly manner with all staff and fellow workers as well as students. Education: Work requires an educational background normally equivalent to high school with course work in skilled crafts or trades training. Experience: Educational and work experience that evidences knowledge of and ability to perform tasks related to essential duties and responsibilities listed above. 2+ years prior experience in lawn care and landscaping. Physical Requirements: With or without the use of aids, sufficient vision to read printed material. Sufficient body movement and mobility to drive a vehicle, crawl, bend, stoop, and work on knees. Work Environment: Ability to have sufficient stamina to perform heavy physical labor in adverse weather conditions.
