Continuous Improvement / Lean Specialist

As we scale, we're investing in lean systems and a world-class CI culture to drive flow, eliminate waste, and empower operational excellence. We are seeking a hands-on Continuous Improvement (CI) / Lean Specialist to lead and support initiatives that reduce waste, improve flow, and increase process efficiency. The ideal candidate is an energetic and collaborative change agent with a strong foundation in lean manufacturing tools and Six Sigma methods. This person will be expected to work closely with operators, engineers, and cross-functional teams on the floor, leading kaizen events, conducting training, and driving measurable improvement projects across the plant. Key Responsibilities Champion the use of lean manufacturing tools including: 5S, Kaizen, Poka-Yoke, Standardized Work, Line Balancing, Takt Time, Visual Factory, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Just-In-Time (JIT), Flow, OEE analysis, 8 Waste identification, and elimination Conduct and lead: Kaizen events to improve flow and layout, 5S workshops to organize and sustain the work environment, Six Sigma DMAIC projects to reduce variability and defects Partner with floor-level operators to: Identify pain points in processes and material movement, Facilitate root cause analysis and drive problem-solving activities Track and report improvement metrics related to: Throughput, downtime, first-pass yield, cycle time, rework, and changeover time Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to sustain gains from improvement initiatives Coach and mentor teams on lean thinking and waste elimination principles Develop training materials and facilitate internal training on CI tools and lean practices Qualifications Bachelor's degree in industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Quality Engineering A minimum of 35 years of hands-on experience in a lean/continuous improvement role in a manufacturing environment Strong working knowledge of Lean principles, Toyota Production System (TPS) tools, and basic Six Sigma methodology Practical application of 5S, Standard Work, Takt Time, OEE, and Visual Management Ability to lead and sustain shop-floor-level improvements Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills
able to build rapport with operators and frontline teams Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills Preferred Qualifications Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or SME Bronze Certification Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred Familiarity with electric motor or electronics manufacturing is a plus Experience using Excel, Power BI, Minitab, or similar tools for CI metrics Success Indicators Measurable reduction in waste, downtime, or cycle time Increased participation in kaizen events and continuous improvement initiatives Improved operator engagement and ownership of standard work and lean practices Sustained implementation of 5S and visual controls across production areas Why Join Us?
