R&T Lab Technician

Hexcel is currently seeking an R&T Lab Technician for our Salt Lake City, UT, USA location. The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations: Fabricating composite test panels. Working safely around equipment at elevated temperatures (hot press, ovens, autoclaves). Analyzing composite materials with microscopy, thermal analysis techniques, and other analytical techniques. Collecting data and preparing reports. Performing routine and basic statistical calculations as necessary. Mixing resins in a laboratory setting and performing routine laboratory tasks. Writing clear, concise operating procedures/instructions (i.e. SOPs). Performing special assignments assisting other technicians or engineers on project work. Maintaining departmental files, logs, and records of past experiments and/or tests for future references. Maintaining a clean, safe working environment and ensuring lab equipment are in acceptable order. Qualifications: High School diploma required with two years related experience and/or training; 2-4 years of college in related discipline and 2 years of related experience preferred. Industrial lab or production shop experience highly desirable (preferably in composites/polymers/adhesives). Ability to read and interpret documents such as Safety Data Sheets, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to use analytical equipment including DSC, Rheology, DMTA. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Coursework or demonstrated computer skills (MS Office, Excel specifically required) Working knowledge of algebra, and basic math skills required. Experience with presses or autoclaves a plus. Able to work independently and in a team environment
