Madison College is recruiting a pool of highly motivated and qualified candidates to teach part-time non-transfer courses for the Physical Education department. Applications will be accepted on a continuous basis for the 2025-2026 academic school year. This position instructs adult students at the collegiate, non-transfer level as well as providing instruction in continuing education courses. Instructors develop learner-centered instructional strategies, collaborative curriculum and assessments for continuous improvement. This position reports to the Area Coordinator for Chemistry, Biology, and Physical Education in the School of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Essential duties include: Planning, developing, and implementing appropriate instructional strategies, including alternative delivery strategies when appropriate. Assisting and advising students who have problems with assignments, tests, grades, course content, career concerns, and other academic matters. Researching, developing, and administering skills assessments before, during, and after courses and services with an emphasis on evaluating student performance in courses taught by the instructor. Participating in instructional and curriculum articulation activities with other programs and other divisions of instruction. Complying with college policies and directions regarding student testing record keeping, advanced standing, providing grades on a timely basis, maintaining office hours for student assistance and counseling, etc. Working closely with the College's Business and Industry Services division to support the training needs of business partners and/or clients. Maintaining competencies as an instructor as aligned with the Faculty Quality Assurance System. Complying with all aspects of Board policies, work rules, and the appropriate collective bargaining agreement. Attending division, department, and advisory committee meetings. Developing and implementing strategies aimed at the retention of students of color, female students, English Language Learners (ELL), and students with disabilities. Participating in appropriate staff development activities such as diversity awareness, technology training, etc. Demonstrating a commitment to the college's mission, vision, and values. Knowledge, skills, and abilities include: Knowledge of current educational methods and strategies, including learner-centered instruction, assessment, evaluation, and collaborative techniques and strategies that address closing the gap in student access and achievement across race, gender, and disability. Project management work experience. Skill in the use of educational technology and alternative delivery methods. Knowledge and ability to infuse multicultural perspectives into course content and delivery. Skill in communications and human relations with populations having diverse socio-economic and racial backgrounds, as well as individuals with disabilities. Skill in oral and written communications. Ability to effectively interact with business and industry to establish partnerships and address needs. Willingness to travel to company locations for collaborative meetings and/or training. Qualifications include: Master's degree in Physical Education or closely related field or a Master's degree in a related field with 18 graduate credits in physical education. OR tested experience in a field closely related to the field instructed. Examples include: Industry recognized credentials in Yoga, Fitness, etc. Special instructions to applicants: Madison College utilizes pool postings for all Part-time Instructor positions. This posting is a pool position to collect applications for potential part-time instruction positions. Part-time Instructors are hired on a per course basis each semester, and teaching one semester does not guarantee assignment for the following semester. The teaching hours for a part-time instructor vary and can include day, evening, and weekend classes.
