Benefits Eligible Full-Time Benefit Eligible Work Shift Day - 8 Hour or less Shift Department 8753 Infection Prevention Svcs The Director of Infection Prevention is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive infection prevention and control program across the healthcare system. Ensures compliance with regulatory standards, mitigates infection risks, and promotes a culture of safety through data-driven strategies and staff education. Collaborates with clinical and operational leaders to drive system-wide infection prevention initiatives. Qualifications
License/Certification Required: Certificate in Infection Control (CIC) Preferred: Current CA Registered Nurse license Education: Required: Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or a related field Preferred: Advanced degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or a related field Experience: Required: Minimum of five years of experience in infection control, and prior leadership or management in an acute care setting Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Demonstrates skill in leadership & program management Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage multidisciplinary teams. Effective problem solving & critical thinking skills. In-depth knowledge of TJC, CMS, CDPH, and other applicable regulatory standards. Technology proficiency, skilled in data analysis & reporting Job Responsibilities
Essential: Program Leadership and Oversight Develops and manages the organization's Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) program, ensuring alignment with national guidelines and best practices. Leads the IPC team, provides supervision, mentorship, and completes performance evaluations. Oversees the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to infection prevention. Surveillance and Data Analysis Designs and implements surveillance systems to monitor healthcare-associated infections (HAIs). Analyzes infection data to identify trends, outbreaks, and areas for improvement. Reports findings to relevant stakeholders and regulatory bodies as required. Regulatory Compliance and Reporting Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to infection control. Prepares for and participates in inspections and accreditation surveys (e.g., JCAHO). Maintains documentation and records in accordance with regulatory standards. Education and Training Develops and delivers education programs for staff on infection prevention practices. Provides ongoing training to ensure staff are informed about current IPC protocols. Promotes a culture of safety and infection prevention throughout the organization. Collaboration and Consultation Works collaboratively with departments such as nursing, environmental services, and facilities management to implement IPC measures. Serves as a consultant to clinical and non-clinical staff on infection prevention issues. Participates in committees and workgroups focused on patient safety and quality improvement. Outbreak Management Leads investigations of infection outbreaks, identifies sources and implementing control measures. Coordinates response efforts during infectious disease emergencies. Communicate effectively with public health authorities and other external partners Performs other duties as assigned. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and services appropriate to the population served on the assigned unit or work area.
