The Prototypes Pre-Filing Diversion Program, a program of HealthRIGHT 360, is part of a Los Angeles County-wide initiative, seeks to reimagine the justice system by diverting individuals arrested for misdemeanors and non-serious, non-violent felonies from criminal charges to community-based support services. ATI addresses key factors leading to incarceration, including homelessness, mental health, addiction, and lack of employment opportunities. Through collaboration with law enforcement and district attorneys, PFDP is working to build a sustainable network of providers that enhances the community's ability to support those in need. The Peer Navigator is responsible for safely transporting clients to scheduled appointments and community destinations, coordinating transportation logistics, and maintaining accurate records. This in-person role provides empathetic peer mentoring and support to clients while ensuring compliance with agency policies, confidentiality regulations, and health and safety standards. The Peer Navigator also oversees routine vehicle maintenance, reports incidents promptly, and actively participates in emergency preparedness activities to promote a safe environment. This is a union position. Key Responsibilities Transportation and Logistics Transport individuals safely and professionally to provider destinations and approved community appointments, following all federal and state driving laws. Coordinate participant appointments with the System Navigator and Case Manager, assisting with linkage follow-through as needed. Perform on-call monitoring for transportation needs. Maintain accurate records of transportation activities, vehicle usage reports, and related paperwork in the company database. Ensure routine vehicle maintenance, including inspections, cleaning, refueling, and promptly report any vehicle or transportation issues. Complete and report incident reports for accidents, injuries, or near misses to the program manager. Client Interaction and Care Maintain appropriate staff/client boundaries. Treat clients with respect and dignity. Interact with clients in a caring, non-judgmental manner. Utilize harm reduction and trauma-informed care principles. Perform crisis intervention and communicate with treatment team as unforeseen situations arise. Provide culturally competent, empathetic support and feedback. Documentation and Compliance Complete all required documentation accurately and timely. Maintain confidentiality in compliance with agency policies, HIPAA, and 42 CFR standards. Adhere to all agency policies, procedures, and codes of ethics. Administration and Other Duties Support other areas of the program or other departments as needed when no driving task is available. Provide outreach services to Los Angeles County jails. Participate in emergency preparedness drills and report safety hazards promptly. Follow established protocols for responding to emergency situations. Attend and participate in meetings and training opportunities. Attend and complete all assigned training in a timely manner. Read and respond to emails when appropriate. And perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education, Certification, or Licensure High school diploma or equivalent required, higher education preferred. Current First Aid and CPR certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire. Valid California driver's license with a clean driving record. Experience At least two years' professional driving experience. Administrative experience preferred. Background Check and Other Requirements Qualified candidates with a criminal record will be considered for employment. Must be capable of obtaining and maintaining a satisfactory background check. Must be capable of meeting health screening and tuberculosis testing requirements. Must be capable of meeting program and funding requirements. Must be capable of obtaining clearance and maintaining agency vehicle insurance coverage. We will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.
