Real Estate Paralegal

The Real Estate Paralegal is responsible for assisting the Loan Closing Department with the handling of many real estate, loan closings, and lending related matters. Responsibilities

Prepares and revises real estate and lending documents, such as notes, mortgages, deeds, deeds-in-lieu, affidavits, loan modification agreements, forbearance agreements, leases, listing agreements, purchase and sale agreements, loan agreements, etc., and advises the bank's lending and closing departments regarding real estate and lending issues. Prepares and revises loan documents such as notes, mortgages, closing statements, etc.; reviews internal credit approval documents and performs or coordinates necessary tasks for loan closings; coordinates with the loan closing department, lending officers, outside counsel, and others to prepare for, conduct, and facilitate the closing; examine title commitments and assist with title requirements and resolving title problems for closing; and follow through with appropriate recordings, filings, disbursements, and post-closing matters. Serves as the liaison between the Closing Department and outside counsel for all loan closing matters. Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field of study and five (5) years of equivalent experience as a Real Estate Paralegal; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of banking laws and regulations and the Bank Secrecy Act and Patriot Act, a plus. Must have the ability to analyze, problems-solve, and multi-task Good understanding of financial institution products and services is required. Must be able to work independently and with minimal supervision. Must possess strong organizational, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Fluent in English and Spanish preferred. Computer knowledge on MS Software (Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat, and Outlook) is required Notary Public or willingness to obtain notary certification required Prior Experience with Title Searches required. Title Policy examination and Title Problem resolution experience a plus. Ability to learn additional software applications, such as document assembly and case management applications.
