Extrusion Maintenance Technician III 1st Shift
Full-time Position Type: Permanent Shift: 1st Shift Job Description
Base Pay: $41-$44 per hour 1st Shift: 7am-3:30pm Monday-Friday Duties and Responsibilities Provide multi-skilled industrial maintenance support focused on customer service, quality, cost, and productivity in Total Productive Improvement (TPM) and continuous improvement (CI) environment Maintain the responsibilities and performance requirements within all fields of the Maintenance Technician Apprentice and Technician levels I & II positions Set up, adjust, and maintain assigned equipment with responsibility and focus on uptime and quality on all Understanding and performing preventive, predictive, and Line call maintenance on production machinery, completing and documenting all work in a timely fashion Know and practice the principles of a respectful workplace Qualifications
Associate degree with 1-2 years of industrial maintenance experience or 5-7 years of equivalent industrial maintenance experience Electrical Skills Use a volt-ohm meter (VOM) to measure AC and DC current, AC and DC voltage, and resistance for troubleshooting purposes Understand the functions of components and operating features of relays, circuit breakers, Programmable Logic Controllers, motor encoders, motors, and sensors Ability to work at 480 volts AC/DC and troubleshoot Carrying out preventive maintenance programs for electrical systems Understanding of Lock Out Tag Out and Arc Flash Desired but not necessary: understanding electronic components and troubleshooting Mechanical Skills Understand the basic components, operation, inspection, and maintenance of various types of valves, including safety valves and air valves Disassemble, inspect, reassemble, and valves and air cylinders Disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble the Gearbox Observe and understand the equipment sequence of operation and configuration to isolate failure and perform root cause analysis Organizing and conducting preventive maintenance programs Understand the characteristics and operation of foreign industrial equipment, systems, and their components, as well as the safety hazards associated with them Troubleshoot problems with pneumatic systems Observe and understand pneumatic sequence of operation and configuration to isolate failure and perform root cause analysis Reviews production schedule and, when equipment is not scheduled for manufacturing, performs scheduled maintenance Analyzes mechanical, electrical, and operational problems on assigned equipment Tests equipment to ensure operation clears jams and sets aside product, ensuring the equipment is ready to run Makes preventive maintenance checks and inspections of assigned equipment, reports findings to the supervisor, and takes appropriate action Performs other duties as requested Physical Requirements Some heavy lifting required to replace motors, pumps, extruder screws, etc., at low frequency Equipment is provided to move and manipulate heavy components Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a continual basis above shoulder height and below the waist Occasionally
Squat, crawl, reach above shoulders, kneel, and balance The job requires repetitive actions such as simple grasping, firm grasping, and fine manipulation (This includes right and left hands) Outside work required Working with various chemicals High work from scaffolding, ladders, and platforms Working in confined space conditions Wearing the proper PPE Handling hazardous waste wearing the appropriate PPE Working near energized electric circuits Working near hot equipment and or materials Education, Certifications, and Job Qualifications PC skills. Minimum of a Class A Journeyman License required, or working towards and obtaining, or currently possessing Electrical qualifications and/or Mechanical field qualifications Time served experience in the maintenance field Must own basic hand tools Must be available to work on call as needed Willingness to work as part of a team or independently as the situation requires Leadership skills are a plus Additional Information
