This position is responsible for ensuring that all basic surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment are properly inventoried, decontaminated, assembled, inspected, packaged, sterilized, stored, distributed, and tracked in a quality/timely manner throughout the hospital. Will begin to train and validate competencies to allow performance of these duties independently and without close supervision. Utilizes applications and technology to accurately facilitate record keeping in accordance with State and Federal regulations, promotes mission, vision, and values of Intermountain Health, and abides by service behavior standards, performs other duties as assigned. May be required to work overtime based on business need, may be required to float to other departments (within the scope of competency and qualifications) based on business need, and may be required to be placed on-call based on business needs. Multiple shifts available. All experience levels welcome to apply. Available shifts: M-F 9:00-5:30 PM M-F 12:00-8:30 PM M-F 3:00 PM-11:30 PM M-Th 9:00 PM-7:30 AM (10-hour shift) Sa/Sun (+ one other weekday) 7:00 AM-7:30 PM (12-hour shifts) Essential Functions: Disassemble, clean, decontaminate, and disinfect basic surgical instruments. Identify, assemble, protect, wrap, contain, peel pack, label, and sterilize/high level disinfect basic surgical instruments. Print off a needs list and collect all the necessary items needed for surgical/medical procedures. Clean, and correctly use CP equipment. Perform, read, validate, and record all biological and chemical sterilization tests and parameters before making equipment available for use. Print off a needs list and collect all the necessary items needed for surgical/medical procedures. Issue sterile supplies to areas of the hospital or regional campuses. Issue and receive durable, moveable clinical equipment. Perform basic inventory duties as required. Communicate effectively both verbally and written with providers, caregivers, and vendors. Skills: Communicate effectively both verbally and written Customer Service Vendor Relationships Sterilization Techniques Equipment Operations Disinfecting Minimum Qualifications: Tech I: Must attain Central Processing Certification from HSPA (Healthcare Sterile Processing Association) within one year of hire date. Tech II: Current CP Certification from HSPA (Healthcare Sterile Processing Association) Tech III: Current CP Certification from HSPA (Healthcare Sterile Processing Association) Pay Scales: Tech I: 18.66 - 25.33 USD Hourly Tech II: 19.20 - 27.35 USD Hourly Tech III: 19.97 - 29.74 USD Hourly Physical Requirements: Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, sterile indicator tags, colors, operate equipment, identify equipment and supplies. - and - Frequent interactions with care providers that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations. - and - Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting, accessing needed information, etc. - and - Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer equipment. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, reach, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items. - and - Need to walk and assist with transporting, obtaining, and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.). - and - May be expected to stand in a stationary position with personal protective equipment for an extended period of time.
