Job Title: Director of Strategy
Washington University seeks an advancement professional for the position of Director of Strategy. University Advancement strives to advance the mission of the school by creating a culture of philanthropy among alumni, students, faculty, and friends. The Director of Strategy will partner and collaborate as a liaison between the School of Law leadership and generalist gift officers to develop and implement donor strategy and proposals that correspond with the appropriate gift lane. The Director of Strategy will report to the Executive Director of Advancement, School of Law. The Director of Strategy will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive fundraising strategy that aligns with our organization's mission and objectives. This role requires exceptional leadership abilities, strong analytical skills, and a deep understanding of fundraising practices and trends. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in fundraising strategy development and implementation, as well as the ability to engage and mobilize stakeholders towards achieving fundraising goals. This position is located in St. Louis, MO and the targeted hiring range for this position is $84,200 - $115,000. Primary Duties & Responsibilities: Assist the Executive Director with relationship management and unit liaison. Staff the School of Law dean or unit lead for meetings and/or events (local and out of town). Work with board and committee engagement strategy oversight. Implement annual operational plans (events calendar, communication calendar, etc.) Provide guidance and support to the fundraising team, ensuring they have the necessary resources and training to meet their targets. School/Unit goal and oversight of key priorities and prospect pool: Develop detailed knowledge of key School of Law priorities and the University priorities that align with them. Manage campaign initiatives and gift tables. Develop School of Law based goals annually and broadly for the campaign. Maintain the list of top prospects for School of Law. UA Collaborations: Support relationships across University Advancement for School of Law. Drive accountability for agreed-upon deliverables and successful proposal closure. Navigate and manage the development of gift agreements and donor expectations. Donor Strategy Development: Ensure generalist colleagues have effective school and program-based strategies for School of Law. Support unit-based training for gift officers Serve as subject matter expert (SME) for all opportunities in the School of Law. Operations: Inform staffing and performance management. Support the development of budgets for unit activity. Implement annual operational plans (events calendar, communication calendar, OKRs, etc.) Perform other duties as assigned. Working Conditions: Job Location/Working Conditions Normal office working environment. Typically sitting at a desk. Travel as required to bring letters to various departments on campus and assist with both on-campus and off-campus events. Some evening and early morning hours are required. Required Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree Certifications: No specific certification is required for this position. Work Experience: Relevant Experience (5 Years) Skills: Not Applicable Driver's License: A driver's license is not required for this position. Track record of effectively leading and inspiring teams to achieve fundraising goals. Juris Doctorate or other law experience an advantage, but not required.
