Executive Director, Value & Implementation (V&I) Outcomes Research

The Executive Director, Value & Implementation (V&I) Outcomes Research position resides in the V&I organization, which includes Global Medical and Scientific Affairs as well as Outcomes Research. Under the guidance of a senior leader, this individual will lead a team of outcomes research professionals to develop value evidence strategies and generate real-world and economic evidence for a portfolio of ophthalmology and neuroscience products to meet the value evidence needs of clinicians, payers, policymakers, health technology assessment (HTA)/ reimbursement agencies, and health systems globally. The ability to successfully participate in and lead cross-functional teams is a critical part of this role. The Executive Director has scientific and budgetary oversight for all outcomes research activities conducted by their team. These include prospective and retrospective observational studies to characterize disease burden and epidemiology, treatment patterns, health-care resource utilization and costs, physician and patient satisfaction surveys, clinical and patient reported outcomes assessments, systematic reviews and meta-analyses, and economic modelling. Key responsibilities also include overseeing the development of American Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) dossiers for U.S. payers and Global Value Dossiers for use by local subsidiaries in their HTA submissions. The Executive Director is expected to contribute to product development and marketing strategies throughout the lifecycle to ensure that product value is defined and developed to achieve optimal market/patient access and reimbursement. The incumbent is expected to work cross-functionally with clinical development, medical affairs, biostatistics, market access, commercial, and country affiliates and may have direct interactions with HTA agencies and reimbursement decision makers. Primary responsibilities include: Leading, managing and providing scientific and strategic direction to teams leading the development and execution of high-quality evidence strategies and plans for products in ophthalmology and neuroscience therapy areas. Ensuring that the annual Value & Implementation (V&I) plans for the therapeutic area (TA) deliver research data and evidence for use in markets with impending launches. Helping to achieve/sustain reimbursement and market access for innovative ophthalmology and neuroscience products. Accountable for the development and delivery of innovative, timely, robust health outcomes and economic evidence to support and optimize market access, pricing, reimbursement, HTA, formulary listing and promotion of our company's products. Developing a strong matrix relationship with clinical development, medical affairs, market access, commercial, and key markets to ensure that clinical, commercial and access strategies fully reflect payer/HTA requirements. Representing the perspectives and experiences of their team to shape the strategy and function of the outcomes research organization within the company through involvement in the extended leadership team and leading strategic initiatives. Developing effective partnerships with internal stakeholders and external thought leaders in real world evidence, health economics, health-care policy, and HTA to maintain our understanding of the external environment, inform our value evidence strategies and shape the environment for innovative applications of health economics and outcomes research (HEOR). Maintaining awareness of new scientific and methodological developments within therapeutic area and encourages appropriate application of new methods to HEOR studies. Maintaining responsibility to ensure study conduct is aligned with company Policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs) and world-wide regulations and standards, including Good Pharmacoepidemiology Practice (GPP) for applicable work. Accountable for innovative and effective dissemination of value evidence deliverables through presentations at scientific congresses, publications in peer-reviewed journals, press releases, promotional materials, and social media. Education: Doctoral degree (PhD, MD, DrPH, ScD, PharmD) in relevant discipline (health services research, outcomes research, epidemiology, public health, health economics, pharmacoeconomics, pharmacy administration). Required experience and skills: Ten or more years of experience post degree. Track record of successful team leadership and global experience. Strong demonstrated research experience in retinal diseases. Demonstration of knowledge and evidence generation that has supported optimal recommendations/guidelines, reimbursement, and payer/provider access and treatment decisions. Preferred experience and skills: Experience with products from early development to lifecycle management a plus. Salary range for this role is $250,800.00 - $394,800.00. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, government requirements, and business or organizational needs.
