Job Summary: Performs laboratory tests in hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, chemistry, special chemistry, minimal microbiology, transfusion service, and serology according to policy and procedure. Demonstrates specific coagulation skills as listed and in accordance with the coagulation procedure manual. Demonstrates specific urinalysis skills as listed and in accordance with the urinalysis procedure manual. Demonstrates specific microbiology skills as listed and in accordance with the procedure manual. Demonstrates specific chemistry skills as listed and in accordance with the chemistry procedure manual. Demonstrates specific blood banking skills as listed and in accordance with the transfusion service procedure manual. Demonstrates specific serology skills as listed and in accordance with the serology procedure manual. Demonstrates other skills and duties as listed and in accordance with other laboratory procedure manuals. Qualifications
Education Requirements and Other Requirements: Education Level: Associate Degree in Medical Technology or equivalent. Certification/Licensure: MLT(ASCP) preferred Experience Requirements: Minimum one year hospital laboratory experience preferred. Working Conditions: Exposure Category I: Tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues. All procedures or other job-related tasks that involve an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues, or a potential for spills or splashes of them, are Category I tasks. Use of appropriate protective measures should be required for every employee engaged in Category I tasks.
