The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) is seeking a Vice Chair of Research to oversee and build the Department's clinical, basic and translational research as well as support the training of the next generation of researchers and physician-scientists. The Department will be actively engaged in the exciting new clinical collaboration between Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI), BIDMC, and Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians (HMFP) to establish New England's only free-standing adult inpatient cancer hospital. As this collaboration will bring together world-class clinicians to deliver transformational precision medicine, the ideal candidate for the role of Vice Chair of Research will have an established research focus in gynecologic cancer or the ability to strategically develop this area of research. The Department has a Division of Research that includes faculty with expertise in epidemiology, biostatistics, clinical research and implementation science along with more than a dozen staff members, including research coordinators, data analysts and post-doctoral fellows. The Division supports funded and unfunded research throughout the Department, working closely with physician-scientists across multiple sub-specialties. Current research strengths of the department span the spectrum of obstetrics, gynecology, reproductive biology and women's health, and studies are funded by federal, industry and foundation sponsors. The successful candidate will be asked to increase breadth and impact of the Department's clinical, basic and translational research. The individual will report directly to the Chair and work in close collaboration with the Department's Director of Research Operations to optimize and oversee all aspects of the Department's research. The individual also will serve as a member of the Department's Executive Leadership Council comprised of departmental Vice Chairs and Division Chiefs. Requirements of the position include: Hold credentials at MD, PhD, MD/PhD or equivalent Have proven track record in grant support, ideally from diverse funding sources, including federal, philanthropic and industry support Possess excellent communication, leadership and interpersonal skills with ability to foster inclusive, multidisciplinary teams Demonstrate substantial research productivity as evidenced by impactful peer-reviewed publications and mentoring of other investigators Strong commitment to teaching Academic appointment at the level of Instructor, Assistant Professor or Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School and salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
