About This Role
Substation Estimators at Irby Construction Company shall possess a minimum of four years of substation estimating experience. The individual will possess all the skills required for assignment as a Substation Estimator for any craft within his/her area of responsibility. Such an employee shall also have in depth knowledge of all applicable OSHA codes and standards. What You'll Do
The Estimator will review design plans and specifications in requests for proposals/bids and verify constructability and cost and schedule effectiveness. Preparation of complete labor and material estimates. Depth of knowledge with a wide variety electrical materials and methods of installation. Read and understand civil, architectural, structural, mechanical, subsurface, etc. plans and specifications as they relate to the electrical work. Experience in developing spreadsheets for major substation and line work projects: showing projects costs, man-hours and cost per man-hour / mile. Candidate must be able to prioritize work in order to meet project estimating goals including proposal preparation, bid deadlines, cost targets and project schedules. The successful candidate is a team player with effective written and oral communication skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills Requires occasional overnight travel to various project sites. What You'll Bring
Minimum of 5 to 10 years' experience in Estimating. Experience in High Voltage Substation Preferred. Experience with both hard bid and negotiated. Experience with conceptual estimating for budgeting of projects. Candidates should have experience in the entire estimating process including bid preparation and budget preparation through completion. Demonstrated proficiency with Internet, MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint), MS Project. Ability to maintain department tracking databases. What You'll Get
