Award Winning Hospital for Special Surgery 5 Star CMS rated facility for patient experience Positive Work culture Career growth opportunities 401k Employer Match Job Title: X-Ray Tech General Summary Of Duties: Under the supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer, completes the day-to-day MRI, radiological CT, Diagnostic Imaging, and C-Arm Imaging functions to produce quality images for the ordering physicians. Interviews patients for the purpose of obtaining patient history and informing patients regarding patient safety, contrast media contraindications and patient procedures. Demonstrates compliance with state, federal and accrediting body standard in radiology. Demonstrates proper cleaning x-ray equipment and proper handling of biohazard materials. Assures patient and employee safety through competency in the use of all equipment and safety equipment including, but not limited to, posting of the radiation safety signs, monitoring of dosimeter badges, proper documentation of radiation exposure according to policy and procedures. Prepares patient for X Ray procedure by positioning patient, adjusting immobilization devices, providing instructions related to breathing, and observing. Enters required patient information accurately into the computer; selects appropriate protocol and scans patients in accordance with protocol within acceptable time frames; makes adjustments as necessary. Transports equipment and patients in a safe manner to prevent injury to self, patients or employees and prevent damage to equipment. Performs X Ray procedures on appropriate anatomical regions in accordance with accepted standards of practice and protocols. Performs other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of duties in this job classification. Demonstrates respect for diverse backgrounds of all patients, families and co-workers. Job Requirements: Graduation from an AMA-approved program in Radiologic Technology. Minimum of two (2) years as a technologist in a surgical setting. Current BLS certification through an ARC or AHA accredited program. Registration through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, or registry eligible to be obtained within 1 year of hire and licensed by the North Carolina State Board of Radiologic Technologists. Effective communication skills; both orally and written. Computer skills needed. Ability to work with others within a team to ensure quality patient care. Strong critical thinking skills.
