We are currently seeking a skilled and dynamic professional to serve as the Mining Geochemistry and Remediation Lead, focusing on driving innovative work on critical minerals recovery during mine site remediation and supporting the growth of mine remediation practice. This position offers the flexibility of remote work. Candidates based near Columbus, OH can work at Battelle headquarters; however, candidates interested in working remotely from the western U.S. are desirable. The Environment and Agriculture Business Line supports government and commercial clients through environmental services and contract research focusing on site characterization remediation for complex environmental issues. The selected individual will provide leadership to Battelle's efforts to evaluate and develop technologies related to critical mineral recovery, provide engineering expertise to technical projects, and provide or contribute to client relationships in the mining and legacy mine site remediation industries to support a growing mine remediation practice. You will engage with cross-disciplinary project teams which may include multiple engineering and science disciplines, depending on the project scope. Your coworkers will range from new graduates to those with 30+ years of experience. As a non-profit research and development (R&D) firm that supports both government and commercial clients, Battelle scientists and researchers tackle complex problems that require innovative solutions. Senior Engineers with experience conducting applied research and supporting diverse clients in the mining and remediation industries are desired for this position. Responsibilities

Lead Battelle's mine remediation engineering efforts, including technology demonstrations focused on critical minerals recovery during site remediation. Develop technical approaches and performance metrics to guide technology selection and implementation. Conduct geochemical and fate and transport modeling for groundwater, surface water, and contaminated soils/sediments. Prepare and review work plans, QAPPs, and technology assessment reports for sampling and remediation at active and legacy mine sites. Provide technical oversight to ensure scientific rigor, regulatory compliance, and document quality. Apply expert knowledge of CERCLA and Superfund site Remedial Investigations and Feasibility Studies. Represent Battelle within industry associations and at mining and environmental conferences to build visibility and relationships. Contribute to practice growth through talent attraction, project management, staff development, and business development activities. Navigate evolving regulations and manage diverse contract types, including cost-reimbursable, firm-fixed-price, and performance-based agreements. Key Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related engineering field with 10 years of experience or master's degree with 8 years of experience or PhD with 5 years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and or experience. Registered Professional Engineer (PE). Geochemistry experience, especially with state of the practice modeling programs Recognized as an expert in mine remediation with working knowledge of CERCLA, RCRA, and other applicable Federal laws. Experience working with the Federal government. Performing and managing contaminated site assessments, remedy evaluation, including preparing investigation work plans, design analysis and implementation of feasibility studies, treatability studies, removal action work plans, remedy design, and remedy implementation. Demonstrated client liaison and business development skills. Consideration will be placed on those who have experience with commercial industries and state/local governments. Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. Required travel is expected to be up to 25% annually to client locations and conferences Applicants for this position must be a U.S. Person, as defined by U.S. export control laws. Preferred Qualifications

10+ Years' Experience successfully managing projects, programs, and/or people. Advanced degree in Environmental/Civil Engineering or closely related field. Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER and MSHA training and refreshers. Enthusiasm for working in innovative environments and developing technology to solve problems
