Board Membership

The Board shall regulate the practices of audiology, occupational therapy, physical therapy, recreational therapy, and speech-language pathology and the practices by audiology assistants, occupational therapy assistants, physical therapist assistants, speech-language pathology assistants, and speech-language pathology clinical fellows. The Board shall consist of 11 members, as follows: 3 physical therapists or physical therapist assistants 2 occupational therapists or occupational therapy assistants 2 audiologists or speech-language pathologists 1 recreational therapist 1 member licensed or registered under this Board (audiologist, audiology assistant, physical therapist, physical therapist assistant, occupational therapist, occupational therapy assistant, recreational therapist, speech-language pathologist, or speech-language pathology assistant) 2 consumer members Professional members shall have been engaged in the practice of the health occupation regulated by the Board for at least 3 years preceding appointment and be licensed to practice in the District of Columbia. Consumer members shall: Be at least 18 years old Not be a health professional or in training to become a health professional Not have a household member who is a health professional or is in training to become a health professional Not own, operate, or be employed in or have a household member who owns, operates, or is employed in a business which has as its primary purpose the sale of goods or services to health professionals or health-care facilities The Board meets monthly; subcommittees meet as required to complete tasks.
