Assistant Strength And Conditioning Coach
Amherst College invites applications for the position of Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach. The Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach will report to the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach and is responsible for assisting the Head Coach in all phases of the Amherst College Strength and Conditioning Program including designing, developing, and supervising Strength and Conditioning programs for various club and varsity programs as well as other duties assigned by the Head Coach and Director of Athletics. Requires a variable schedule; early morning and into the evening work shifts will be required. This is a 10-month/year, non-benefitted position. Summary of Responsibilities: Coaching Design and implement Strength and Conditioning Programs as primary Strength and Conditioning Coach for Women's Basketball, Cross Country, Swimming and Diving, Men's Soccer, Squash, Women's Rowing (club) Assist Head Strength and Conditioning Coach with supervising and implementing Strength and Conditioning Programs for Men's Basketball, Men's and Women's Ice Hockey, Men's and Women's Golf, Men's and Women's Lacrosse, Women's Soccer, Men's and Women's Tennis Work with Head Sport Coaches and Student Athletes to ensure the specific Strength and Conditioning needs of each sport are met under the guiding principles of accepted scientifically based information Work with Sports Medicine Staff to modify Strength and Conditioning programs around injury and/or integrate back into a routine after rehabilitation is completed Facility Maintenance/Organization Assist in cleaning, organizing, and maintaining the Wolff Fitness Center to help provide a clean and safe atmosphere for the Amherst College Community Catapult GPS System Management Distribute, collect data, analyze, and manage all aspects of the Catapult GPS system for the Soccer and Lacrosse programs Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Physical Education, Health Sciences, or related field Proof of certification by the National Strength & Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), or by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (SCCC) First Aid/CPR/AED certified Possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record that is insurable by Amherst College's motor vehicle insurance carrier Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Strength and Conditioning Coach at the collegiate, professional, or private level Strong verbal and written communication and organizational skills Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel Ability to understand and comply with all NCAA, NESCAC, and Amherst College rules and regulations An understanding of the role intercollegiate athletics in a highly competitive academic environment Successful completion of required reference and background checks
