Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations. General Purpose The Director of Regional Volunteer Programs is responsible for developing and executing strategies to actively engage alumni within specific domestic geographic regions, fostering strong connections with the institution by organizing events, cultivating volunteer leadership, and building relationships with alumni communities across different locations, ultimately aiming to increase alumni participation and giving back to the university. The director leads a team of engagement officers who oversee the identification, recruitment, cultivation, and stewardship of volunteers and develops, plans, and implements events and digital engagement based on where constituents reside. He/she sets strategic plans in partnership with the Assistant Vice President other Advancement staff, with an emphasis on broad alumni outreach, in collaboration with academic units in Advancement and all schools at the University. The director is also a key member of the overall Advancement event strategy team. He/she tracks and analyzes event data including, identifying outreach opportunities and progress towards program goals. Essential Functions Create annual operations and strategic plans and manages a budget for the 5-member Regional Volunteers and Programs engagement team by developing engagement initiatives and defining and evaluating metrics. Oversee the regional volunteer network program domestically with over 150 volunteers, focused on overall engagement (go, give, help, connect). Foster purposeful collaboration across Advancement, school, unit and University partners to maximize impact of existing alumni programs and resources. Establish and implement an Advancement wide regional signature event strategy for our top 8 markets, with direct oversight of the marketing and implementation of signature programs managed in ARCE. Track, report and analyze attendance, budget expenditures, progress towards program goals and metrics for regional programs through reporting functionality of OASIS and internal tracking systems. Supervise 4 engagement managers and one program assistant. Direct staff development, hiring, counsel, appraisals, and other personnel actions. Ensures adherence to administrative policies, including the use of OASIS. Develops staff collaboration across Advancement teams and the community to ensure maximum performance. Manage the overall volunteer strategy for assigned regions. Through meetings with Alumni Relations and Advancement colleagues, oversee the pathways and placement of volunteers and prospects in appropriate roles for assigned regions. Supervise and cultivate leadership volunteers including Board of Trustee Members, National Council Members and Regional Leaders. Serve as the liaison to Network Leadership Councils for assigned Networks. Recruit, train, manage and steward regional based volunteers Meet with potential and current alumni volunteers and donors (50 measured annually.) Provide support/tools to volunteers for program implementation including virtual meetings, written toolkits for outreach and event planning. Serve as the strategic partner and liaison for all regional event activity across Advancement. Set agendas for internal collaboration meetings. Manage Advancement Engagement data tracking and analysis to help drive engagement strategies, with a particular ownership of events. Oversight of the annual tracking of regional Engagement progress towards goals and previous year activity. Serve as a member of the Advancement Event Strategy & Policy team to develop annual collaborative strategic advancement event plans, event protocols to create consistent event experiences for constituents. Partner with the reporting and analytics team to create consistent reporting and analytic tools for events. Lead and guide regional team on developing and managing signature event strategy. Plan and manage both volunteer and Advancement led events Support and guide Network members in volunteer led events. Analyze past events, regional trends and highlights and work with volunteers and internal partners to develop programs for specified region(s). Manage execution of all logistical programming requirements and marketing initiatives for assigned regions. Travel to events for on-site management as appropriate. Support University Wide programs including Meliora Weekend and VIP Leadership Conference. Continued training, professional development and gaining of overall University knowledge through regular meetings with unit-based colleagues, faculty, and staff; training on UR Advancement protocols and procedures; technical training on Advancement's prospect management system; and honing of professional skills through seminars, conferences, trainings, and individual mentoring. Benchmark and develop relationships with other institutions on best practices alumni and constituent engagement. Support of large-scale Advancement programs including our annual Meliora Weekend and biennial Volunteers in Partnership Leadership Conference. Other tasks and duties as assigned by the Assistant Vice President, Volunteer Engagement Networks & Programs. Oversees and has accountability for a budget of XX and manages all vendor contracts and expenditures for Regional Volunteers and Networks Programs.
