Public Safety Transportation Driver
Under general supervision, the Transportation Driver operates the Hawk Hill transportation service to the University City campus and to various points on campus and transports students, staff and faculty safely. The days and hours available for this 9-month, part-time position are currently (and subject to change): Monday
Friday 6:30 a.m.
2:30 p.m. Campus Shuttle Monday
Friday 2:00 p.m.
10:00 p.m. Campus Shuttle Provide prompt, timely, and professional shuttle service to the Saint Joseph's University community (students, faculty, staff, or University guests). Be able to safely operate a 12-passenger van during various times of day, in inclement weather and different road conditions. Conduct a pre/post inspection to ensure safe operation of the vehicle and document/report deficiencies or damage to the on-duty supervisor promptly. Adhere to traffic laws, university policies, and safety regulations while driving, promoting a secure and comfortable environment for all passengers. Exhibit excellent customer service skills by assisting students with boarding, answering inquiries, and maintaining a courteous and professional demeanor at all times. Operate the ADA Van to transport community members as needed. Demonstrate the ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively, following established protocols and communicating promptly with appropriate authorities. Ensure the cleanliness and presentability of the shuttle bus to provide a positive and welcoming experience for passengers. Participate in training sessions and workshops as required, staying updated on university policies, safety regulations, and any new technologies or procedures related to transportation services. Other duties as assigned. Number of direct reports to this position: Minimum Qualifications (Education/Training and Experience Required): Required: Must have a valid Class C Driver's License and be able to operate an ADA accessible ramp as needed. Must have a clean driving record and be accident free for minimum of 6 years. Preferred Qualifications: Previous driving experience as a shuttle driver and/or CDL preferred. Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours: Be able to work between 20-25 hours per week. Ability and willingness to work weekend and evening hours. Ability to get around campus.
