Maintenance Technician
The position reports to the Maintenance Manager. This person will be responsible for doing all work set forth by the department manager. Responsibilities will include daily PMs; working on trouble calls, working on projects laid out by the maintenance manager. This person will need to be able to work with minimal supervision. Major Responsibilities:
Performing work safely and in accordance with GMP and housekeeping standards. Understand and adhere to all safety requirements. Trouble shoot equipment. Perform PMs without supervision. Communicate to upper management as needed. Be proficient with all measuring tools. Be proficient with all hand tools. Be able to read and understand electrical schematics, hydraulic schematics, hard copy PLC programs. Possess the skills to electrically and mechanically trouble shoot equipment. Possess the skills to understand and follow directions from his or her supervisor. Possess basic computer skills. Ability to drive forklift. Executing, promoting and working safely throughout the facility following all Safety Policies. Wearing all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Being aware of all Emergency Exits and knowing procedures for Emergency Evacuation as well as location. Knowing the location of the SDS Safety Data Sheets and how to use them properly. Knowing not to operate any equipment or perform any work without the proper training and authorization to do so safely. Always following proper LOTO lock out/tag out procedures. Never remove or bypass machine guards and NEVER while the machine is in operation. Being cautious and aware of lift trucks and moving equipment. Reporting all injuries or accidents to the Department Lead or Manager or immediately. Understand and follow plants housekeeping guidelines. Identifying and implementing lean and continuous improvement actions. All other duties as assigned. Member of the HACCP team upon request. Education:
Required: Must be able to read, write, and speak English. High School diploma or equivalent. Preferred: Technical School or College. Experience:
Required: Good personal safety, attendance, and job performance record. Both high amounts of quality and quantity of work. Knowledge of plant procedures and equipment use. Extent, to which team member identifies and corrects errors, initiates work activities, assumes responsibility, and anticipates needs. Extent, to which team member completes work assignments, meets schedules, and follows established policies and procedures. Builds trust by respecting the ideas and contributions of everyone. Maintenance background. 2 years electrical experience. Preferred: Plastic Industry knowledge. Skills:
Required: Demonstrated ability to motivate and influence team members to work safely. Demonstrated willingness to work well with others within a team environment. Demonstrated ability to communicate and train effectively. Ability to assess job tasks, and prioritize those tasks when conditions change. Standing, walking and lifting. Willingness to work 12 hour shifts, overtime if required.
